NESCAC Weekly Release - March 30, 2026

The NESCAC has released its Players of the Week for the week ending on March 29. The conference recognizes student-athletes in each sport each week for their contributions to their teams, based on information provided by the athletic communications offices on each campus. During the spring season, baseball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, and softball players of the week will be announced on Mondays. On select Tuesdays, track & field performers of the week will be announced.

NESCAC Baseball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Liam Foley – Bowdoin – Sr. – 1B – Wrentham, Mass.
Foley hit .438 with two home runs and eight RBI in four games. Both home runs came as the Polar Bears took two of three against Tufts, including a four-RBI performance in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader.
 
NESCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Matt Mahoney – Colby – So. – Sudbury, Mass.
Mahoney recorded two relief appearances last week, guiding the Mules to come-from-behind victories against Union and Middlebury. Across 4.2 innings last week, nine of his 14 outs were strikeouts, and he allowed just one single. The sophomore entered Tuesday's game against Union with the Mules trailing 7-5 in the seventh inning and the bases loaded with one out. Mahoney struck out the next two batters to escape the jam and proceeded to post two more clean innings without allowing a hit, striking out five additional Union batters to lead the Mules to a 10-7 comeback victory. On Saturday against Middlebury, Mahoney pitched the eighth and ninth innings as the Mules flipped a 6-5 deficit into a 7-6 victory.
 
NESCAC Softball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Carissa Cassidy – Colby – Sr. – OF – Columbus, Ind.
Cassidy tallied 11 hits and scored 10 runs to lead the Mules in a 7-1 week. The senior hit .478 and had four multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 performance against Oberlin. Cassidy, who also stole three bases. The outfielder slugged .870 as six of her 11 hits went for extra bases with three doubles and three triples. Cassidy is second in the NESCAC in triples with five.
 
NESCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sadie Leonard – Williams – Sr. – Tiburon, Calif.
In four starts and five appearances over 26.1 innings last week, Leonard posted a 0.53 ERA with 52 strikeouts and allowed four runs, two earned. The senior threw a one-hitter, earned the win, and struck out 14 batters in a 2-0 victory in Game 1 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Leonard gave up three hits, did not walk a batter, and struck out 10 in five innings of work during a 9-0 triumph over Pomona-Pitzer in Game 1. Leonard also earned the win in a 7-1 victory over Cal Lutheran, where they struck out 13 batters and scattered four hits.
 
NESCAC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Chris Berry – Bowdoin – Jr. – A – Chevy Chase, Md.  
Berry led Bowdoin in scoring last week as the Polar Bears remained unbeaten with a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents. Against No. 7 Babson, Berry scored five goals, with three caused turnovers and two ground balls in a 12-8 win. The attack followed up with two goals and two assists in a 12-9 victory over No. 13 Amherst. Berry is tied for the NESCAC lead with 33 goals this season. 
 
NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Caroline Adams – Middlebury – Sr. – A – Norwich, Vt.
Adams was a catalyst in three road victories versus ranked opponents. The senior opened the slate with six goals, one assist, and nine draw controls in a 13-6 victory over No. 20 University of Chicago and became the first player in program history to surpass 400 career draw wins. Adams kept her hat trick streak going, tallying five points (3G, 2A) in an 11-10 triumph at No. 3 Tufts. Her player-up goal with 1:02 remaining in the third quarter gave Middlebury a lead they never relinquished, and she assisted on two of the final three tallies to seal the win. The attack closed the week by scoring four times and adding three helpers to guide Middlebury to an 18-3 victory against No. 24 Babson. Adams leads the conference with 6.40 draw wins per game and is second in goals (33) and points per game (5.20).
