NESCAC Softball Player of the Week
Carissa Cassidy – Colby – Sr. – OF – Columbus, Ind.
Cassidy tallied 11 hits and scored 10 runs to lead the Mules in a 7-1 week. The senior hit .478 and had four multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 performance against Oberlin. Cassidy, who also stole three bases. The outfielder slugged .870 as six of her 11 hits went for extra bases with three doubles and three triples. Cassidy is second in the NESCAC in triples with five.
NESCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sadie Leonard – Williams – Sr. – Tiburon, Calif.
In four starts and five appearances over 26.1 innings last week, Leonard posted a 0.53 ERA with 52 strikeouts and allowed four runs, two earned. The senior threw a one-hitter, earned the win, and struck out 14 batters in a 2-0 victory in Game 1 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Leonard gave up three hits, did not walk a batter, and struck out 10 in five innings of work during a 9-0 triumph over Pomona-Pitzer in Game 1. Leonard also earned the win in a 7-1 victory over Cal Lutheran, where they struck out 13 batters and scattered four hits.

Amherst – In four games last week,
Abby Moravek (Libertyville, Ill.) batted .500 (6-12) with three doubles and a home run. The senior drove in four runs and scored once. Moravek posted a .462 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage for the week …
Abby Rebhan (McLean, Va.) picked up one of the two wins Amherst earned last week, tossing 3.2 innings of relief in a 9-7 come-from-behind victory at Bowdoin. The sophomore gave up four hits, walked one, struck out a batter, and was charged with one earned run.
Bates – Maddy Miller (Norway, Maine) reached base safely in five of six games last week, including a doubleheader sweep of Babson, where Miller went 2-for-4 with three RBI. The sophomore also singled and scored a run against Amherst and homered against nationally ranked Tufts, her second long ball of the season. Miller is hitting a team-high .394 and sports a 1.080 OPS …
Isabella Albro (New York, N.Y.) won both starts last week, beginning with a complete game against Babson, where she allowed one run on six hits while striking out two in a 2-1 win. The junior followed up with another complete game in a 5-2 win over Amherst, as Albro surrendered two runs on four hits. She capped off the week by allowing one run in 2.2 innings pitched out of the bullpen against nationally ranked Tufts.
Bowdoin – Senior
Anika Ewert (Newport Coast, Calif.) batted .684 last week as the Polar Bears went 5-1. Ewert went 13-for-19 at the plate, scoring 11 runs with four walks and three extra base hits. Her last extra-base hit of the week was a walk-off inside-the-park homer against Amherst on Sunday, capping a 10-2 Polar Bear victory. Ewert leads Division III, batting .690 this season.
Colby –
Sharlotte Stazinski (Walpole, Mass.) pitched three complete games last week in Florida, going 2-1 in the circle for the Mules. The rookie’s two victories came against Kalamazoo and MIT, slowing down the Engineers' offense and issuing MIT just its second loss of the season. Stazinski was the hard-luck loser in her lone setback, setting a new career-high with nine strikeouts while allowing one earned run against St. Lawrence.
Hamilton – Junior
Gaby Guerra (Sunnyvale, Calif.) smacked career double numbers two and three during two NESCAC road doubleheaders. The junior went 2-for-3, including a double, in a 3-0 setback against Trinity and was 2-for-2 with two walks and a two-bagger in an 8-2 loss at Wesleyan.
Middlebury – In a 7-1 week for the Panthers,
Kristyn Carroll (Kinnelon, N.J.) hit .500 (13-26) with 10 runs scored, seven RBI, and four extra-base hits. Carroll’s best performance came with a 3-for-4 effort a walk-off three-run inside-the-park homer to seal a 10-2 victory over Lawrence. Over the eight-game stretch, the senior also reset the program records in career hits (190) and runs scored (147) previously held by four-time All-NESCAC selection and 2012 NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year Jessa Hoffman ‘13. Carroll paces the Panthers in multiple offensive categories, including total bases (45), hits (27), runs scored (18), and triples (6) …
McKenna Lont (Wyckoff, N.J.) went the distance in two of three appearances in the circle as the Panthers capped their annual spring break trip to Florida. The senior went five innings, allowing four hits and two runs in a 10-2 victory over Lawrence in five innings. Lont also went the distance in game two against Augustana, allowing only two runs and striking out two batters to seal a 3-2 victory and the Panthers' best 16-game start in program history. The senior also logged two innings of relief against Carleton. Lont is tied for the team lead in victories with five.
Trinity – Rookie
Erin Connors (Jefferson, Mass.) helped the Bantams to a 3-1 week from the pitching circle, logging a pair of complete game efforts, allowing five runs, three earned, on 11 hits with six strikeouts. In a 9-2 win against Eastern Connecticut, Connor held the Warriors to two runs, one earned, on five hits with four strikeouts. In her NESCAC debut versus Hamilton, the first-year surrendered three runs, two earned, with a pair of strikeouts to help Trinity complete the sweep of the Continentals.
Tufts –
Cat Kawabe (Huntington Beach, Calif.) hit .500 (6-12) with two doubles, a home run, five RBI, and two runs scored as Tufts opened its NESCAC schedule with doubleheader sweeps of Wesleyan and Bates. The sophomore had hits in all four games. In Game 2 at Wesleyan, an 11-6 win, Kawabe was 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI, a run, and two stolen bases. In the second game against Bates, an 8-0 win, Kawabe went 1-for-2 with a home run, two RBI, and a run scored. She also handled all 24 of her fielding chances perfectly at second base for the week (7 PO, 17 A) …
Francesca Colangelo (Fairfield, Conn.) earned saves in three of four games as Tufts opened its NESCAC schedule with doubleheader sweeps at Wesleyan and at home versus Bates. The rookie totaled 8.1 innings pitched, allowing five hits and two runs for a 1.68 ERA. In the opener at Wesleyan on Saturday, Colangelo entered with Tufts leading 3-2 and one out in the fifth and retired eight of the nine batters she faced to preserve the win. In Game 1 against Bates, a 6-1 win, she entered a 5-1 game with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth and did not allow a hit or run in her 2.2 innings. Colangelo has five saves this season.
Wesleyan – Molly Lennon (Litchfield, Conn.) recorded a .636 batting average, .733 on-base percentage, and 1.364 slugging percentage in four games for the Cardinals. The senior went 7-for-11 at the plate with one home run, one double, two triples, three walks, one hit by pitch, three RBI, and four runs scored. Lennon went 3-for-3 in Game 1 against Tufts with a double and a home run. The infielder went 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, and two runs in Game 1 against Hamilton. Lennon leads the NESCAC in slugging percentage (.926) this season … Junior
Ella DeCrescenzo (Brooklyn, N.Y.) threw her first career complete game, allowed just six baserunners in the game, and only four hits while going 6.2 shutout innings with one run allowed in a 3-1 win over Hamilton. DeCrescenzo's four-hit performance marked the first time she has pitched more than six innings in her career. In the same game, DeCrescenzo helped her own cause with an RBI triple at the plate.
Williams – Senior
Alysa DeQuiroz (Los Angeles, Calif.) batted .389 (7-18) with three runs scored and two RBI last week. The senior finished 2-for-4, with one run and one RBI, in Game 1 at California Lutheran University and went 2-for-2 in Game 2 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
