NESCAC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week
Chris Berry – Bowdoin – Jr. – A – Chevy Chase, Md.
Berry led Bowdoin in scoring last week as the Polar Bears remained unbeaten with a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents. Against No. 7 Babson, Berry scored five goals, with three caused turnovers and two ground balls in a 12-8 win. The attack followed up with two goals and two assists in a 12-9 victory over No. 13 Amherst. Berry is tied for the NESCAC lead with 33 goals this season.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Senior
Alex Vlacich (Walpole, Mass.) scored twice and added three assists with a ground ball in a 12-9 loss at No. 2 Bowdoin in the only game of the week for the Mammoths.
Bates – Junior
Miles Schmidt (Seattle, Wash.) won a season-high 15 faceoffs in 26 chances while recording a season-high 13 ground balls in a 13-12 win over Williams.
Colby –
Daniel O'Connor (Manhasset, N.Y.) tallied five goals in Colby's victory over Conn. College. The rookie scored in the first quarter, added another in the second, and then put the game away in the fourth quarter with three additional tallies. O'Connor added an assist, three ground balls, and caused a turnover as the Mules upended the Camels, 12-4. With two more goals earlier in the week against MIT, O'Connor posted four multi-goal games in the span of 12 days.
Conn. College –
Graydon Diamond (New Canaan, Conn.) registered a goal and an assist in a loss against Colby in the lone game of the week for the Camels. The goal was the eighth of the season for the senior, tying his single-season career high. Diamond has scored in seven of eight games this year.
Hamilton –
Carson Kraus (Garden City, N.Y.) posted six points and nine ground balls in a 1-1 week for the Continentals. Kraus scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, and scooped up four ground balls in an 11-10 victory against Ithaca. The sophomore midfielder tied a career high with four points on two goals and two assists and collected a career-best five ground balls with a caused turnover in a 10-9 setback against Wesleyan.
Middlebury –
Hayden Kern (Westlake Hills, Texas) went 1-1 in net for the Panthers. He opened the week with seven saves in an 11-8 victory over Union in Florida. In a matchup with top-ranked Tufts, Kern logged a season-high 17 saves. The senior became the second player in program history with 750 or more saves.
Trinity –
Bo Page (Wayne, Pa.) led the Bantams’ offense with nine points on seven goals and two assists in a 1-1 week, which featured a battle versus fifth-ranked Salisbury. Page posted game-highs of five points and four goals and added an assist in an 8-4 win over Skidmore. The junior notched team-highs in points (4) and goals (3) and tallied an assist against Salisbury.
Tufts – In a 17-7 win over No. 16 Middlebury, first-year defender
Jack Donovan (Denver, Colo.) recorded four caused turnovers and four ground balls. The newcomer set a personal-best for caused turnovers, while his ground ball total tied a season-best. Donovan has at least one caused turnover in all eight games he has played this year.
Wesleyan – Junior
Matt Morrow (Ipswich, Mass.) registered his first career four-goal game on Saturday in a 10-9 road win at Hamilton in a game that featured two blizzards in the course of play. Morrow netted three of his four goals in the first half while he played a role in a crucial 5-0 run that saw the Cardinals overcome a three-goal deficit to defeat the Continentals.
Williams – Senior captain and attack
Will Doran (Princeton, N.J.) totaled seven goals, one assist, and eight points in a 1-1 week for the Ephs. The senior scored four goals, one assist and five points in a 14-10 win at No. 5 Salisbury and netted a hat trick at No. 19 Bates.
