NESCAC Weekly Release - March 2, 2026

The NESCAC has released its Players of the Week for the week ending on March 1. The conference recognizes student-athletes in each sport each week for their contributions to their teams, based on information provided by the athletic communications offices on each campus. During the crossover season, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's ice hockey, baseball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, and softball (starting March 9) players of the week will be announced on Mondays.

NESCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Jarrel Okorougo – Trinity – Sr. – F – Stoneham, Mass.,
Okorougo propelled the second-ranked Bantams to their third straight NESCAC Men's Basketball Championship after averaging 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, a block, and an assist on Trinity's run to the title. In the championship game win over Wesleyan, Okorougo helped ignite a second-half comeback with 11 straight points out of the break to hand Trinity a 41-35 lead, finishing with a team-high 20 points, five rebounds, and two steals en route to the 80-55 win. The senior captain tallied 14 points with a game-high nine rebounds in an 80-70 victory over Tufts in the semifinals.
 
NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Sarah Hughes – Bates – Jr. – G – Rumson, N.J.
Hughes tallied 21 points on 7-for-12 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds Saturday in an 80-68 win over Amherst in the NESCAC Semifinal. The junior followed up with a season and game-high 24 points on 7-for-9 shooting, securing seven rebounds and recording two steals in Sunday's 61-56 victory over Bowdoin in the NESCAC Championship Game. Hughes matched her season-high with four made 3-pointers in five attempts as the Bobcats shot 60 percent from long range in the game. With the pair of wins, Bates clinches its second NESCAC title in program history. 
 
NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Patrick McDevitt – Wesleyan – So. - G – Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec
McDevitt made history on Saturday, setting a Wesleyan single-game and NESCAC Championship record with 73 saves in a 3-2 double overtime defeat at Middlebury in the NESCAC Quarterfinals. McDevitt made 51 consecutive saves before allowing a goal late in the third period, while he went on to finish with 73 stops, surpassing former Cardinal Tim Sestak's previous single-game team and NESCAC Championship record of 65.
 
NESCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Sophia Will – Middlebury – Sr. – G – Lancaster, N.Y.
Will stopped all 23 shots on target, including 19 in the final two periods, in a 1-0 victory over Trinity in the NESCAC Quarterfinals. The Panthers also fended off five Trinity power-play opportunities. The senior became the first player in program history to surpass 500 saves in a season. Will is 41 saves away from the Middlebury record in career stops.
 
NESCAC Baseball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Gibby Sullivan – Bates – Sr. – OF – Yarmouth, Maine
At Bard, Sullivan went 4-for-6 with six runs scored, seven RBI, a double, a triple, a home run, four walks, and a stolen base in a doubleheader sweep of the Raptors.  The senior sports a 1.927 OPS through five games and has driven in more runs this year (14) than he did all of last season (13) as the Bobcats (4-1) are off to their best start since 2013
 
NESCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Saahi Jetti – Amherst – Fy. – Des Moines, Iowa
Jetti made his collegiate debut a memorable one, coming on in relief to throw six no-hit, shutout innings while striking out 10 batters in the process. He walked only two as the Mammoths opened the season with a 5-0 win over Springfield College. Jetti picked up his first collegiate victory in the process.
 
NESCAC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Andrew Toland – Bates – Jr. – G – Hingham, Mass.
At No. 6-ranked Wesleyan, Toland made 20 saves, including 10 in the third quarter as the Bobcats held No. 6 Wesleyan scoreless in the frame, and notched an impressive save percentage of .645 in the Bobcats’ 13-11 win over the Cardinals. The victory was Bates’ first win over a nationally ranked opponent since 2019. 
 
NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Schuyler Lloyd – Tufts – Jr. – M – Wenham, Mass.
Lloyd netted five goals in a season-opening win over No. 3 Colby. Lloyd scored on every shot she took on Saturday, including netting her only free position attempt. The midfielder also added a caused turnover and added a draw control to her ledger, while finishing with zero turnovers.
