NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week
Patrick McDevitt – Wesleyan – So. - G – Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec
McDevitt made history on Saturday, setting a Wesleyan single-game and NESCAC Championship record with 73 saves in a 3-2 double overtime defeat at Middlebury in the NESCAC Quarterfinals. McDevitt made 51 consecutive saves before allowing a goal late in the third period, while he went on to finish with 73 stops, surpassing former Cardinal Tim Sestak's previous single-game team and NESCAC Championship record of 65.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Conn. College - Sophomore forward
Matt Lewis (Pembroke, Mass.) led an upset-minded Conn. College team against top-seed Hamilton on Saturday. With the game tied 3-3 in the third period, Lewis drove the net and poked home a rebound to put the Camels in front 4-3, while also adding a game-high 13 face-off wins.
Hamilton –
Noah Leibl (Del Mar, Calif.) scored two goals, including the game-winner 4:45 into overtime, for the top-seeded Continentals in their 5-4 win against Connecticut College in a NESCAC Quarterfinal. It was Leibl's second career multi-goal game. The junior's first goal of the afternoon on a wraparound tied the score at 1-1 late in the first period.
Middlebury –
Tyler Wishart (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) came in clutch for the Panthers in their 3-2 come-from-behind triumph in double overtime against Wesleyan in the NESCAC Quarterfinals. The rookie had the secondary assist on Middlebury’s game-tying goal with 1:13 remaining in regulation. Then, in the second overtime, Wishart became the hero, finding the right side of the net with 10:04 left to punch the Panthers' ticket to the conference semifinals.
Tufts – In a 3-1 NESCAC Quarterfinal loss to Williams, junior
Trace Norwell (Erie, Colo.) scored the lone goal for Tufts and paced the Jumbos in shots on goal with five.
Williams –
Jackson Krill (Anmore, British Columbia) scored the game-winning goal in the second period and added an assist on the Ephs' first tally in a 3-1 win over No. 3-seed Tufts in the NESCAC Quarterfinals.
