Colby's Coelho and Tufts' Gyimesi are NESCAC Nominees for D3CA Men's Sport Athlete of the Year Award

HADLEY, Mass. - Colby's Jackson Coelho and Scott Gyimesi of Tufts have been nominated for the Division III Commissioners Association Men's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year award. The award recognizes graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service, and leadership. A committee of conference administrators will select the NESCAC's representative.

Jackson Coelho, Colby Men’s Track & Field

  • Graduated with a 3.78 GPA and a degree in economics with a concentration in financial markets and a minor in data science.
  • Received the 2026 Richard L. Whitmore Award, an honor given out by the Colby Athletic Department for athletic achievement, academic excellence, sportsmanship, and campus involvement. Was a six-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree, a 2025 USTFCCCA All-Academic selection, and garnered CSC Academic All-District Team recognition twice.
  • Coelho was a four-time All-American for the Mules and a seven-time USTFCCCA All-Region selection. His time of 1:03.25 in the 500 meters (indoors) ranks fifth all-time in NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field. Coelho was a three-time All-NESCAC honoree.
  • He owns the four Colby school records and 18 top-10 all-time marks, including the all-time best time in the 400 meters (outdoors) and the 500 meters (indoors).
  • A team captain as a senior, Coelho organized Colby's volunteer involvement with the Waterville Area Soup Kitchen, led the Portfolio Analytics Team for the Colby Student Investment Association, which oversaw a ~$210,000 portfolio and guided 30 underclassmen. Coelho worked as a marketing intern with USA Track & Field New England and was a Teaching Assistant for Corporate Finance class.
Scott Gyimesi, Tufts Men’s Basketball
  • Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tufts with a 3.90 GPA and a degree in economics with minors in finance, architectural studies, and history.
  • Was a two-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America, a three-time NESCAC All-Academic Team selection, and a three-time CSC Academic All-District Team honoree. Gyimesi also earned a spot on the Dean's List every semester at Tufts.
  • The 2026 NESCAC Player of the Year was a three-time All-NESCAC player and garnered NABC Division III All-America First Team honors and was the 2026 NABC District 1 Player of the Year. Gyimesi was a two-time Jostens Trophy Finalist, one of 10 players selected nationally.
  • Gyimesi graduated as Tufts' all-time leading rebounder (949) and finished his career with 1,308 points. He was the leading rebounder in the NESCAC (9.1 rpg) as a senior and ranked 10th in NCAA Division III with 15 double-doubles in 2025-26.
  • Led Tufts to just its second Elite 8 appearance in program history; was a part of four NCAA Tournament qualifying teams.
  • A team captain for two seasons, he served as the leader of Tufts Athletics Civic Life Ambassador program, founded the Tufts Real Estate Group, organized a 3x3 charity basketball tournament for Team IMPACT, volunteered at the Boston Food Bank, and was a Teaching Assistant for an Entrepreneurial Finance class.
