The NESCAC has released its Players of the Week for the week ending on February 8. The conference recognizes student-athletes in each sport each week for their contributions to their teams, based on information provided by the athletic communications offices on each campus. During the winter season, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's ice hockey players of the week will be announced on Mondays.
NESCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Fritz Hauser – Wesleyan – SR. – F – Waterford, Vt.
Hauser drained three straight 3-pointers in the opening two minutes of the game en route to a career-high 30-point performance in Sunday's 83-61 home win over Bates. Hauser went 11-for-18 from the floor and 8-for-13 from three, finishing just one made 3-pointer away from matching the single-game program record. The 30-point showing easily eclipsed Hauser's previous career-high of 21 points, which he had scored twice previously.
NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Sarah Hughes – Bates – Jr. – G – Rumson, N.J.
Hughes started her week with 10 points, five rebounds, a game-high five assists, and a game-high three steals in a 69-49 win over Trinity on Friday. The junior followed up with a season-high 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting in Sunday's win over Wesleyan. Hughes scored 10 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter, including hitting the eventual game-winning shot from the baseline with 37 seconds remaining, and made two free throws to ice the 65-61 win over the Cardinals. With the pair of victories, the 2025-26 Bobcats become the seventh team in Bates women's basketball history to reach the 20-win mark in a season.
NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Jacob Osborne – Bowdoin – So. - G – Gloucester, Ontario
Osborne helped the Polar Bears sweep a NESCAC weekend, including handing Hamilton its first conference loss. Osborne made 25 stops, allowing just one power play goal, in a 2-1 win over the Continentals on Friday. On Saturday, the sophomore posted a 29-save shutout as Bowdoin claimed a 3-0 win over Amherst. For the weekend, the sophomore netminder recorded a 0.50 goals against average and .981 save percentage.
NESCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Ally Martineillo – Colby – So. – G – Salem, N.H.
Martineillo led Colby to a 2-0 shutout versus No. 2 Amherst on Friday night and a 1-1 tie on Saturday, stopping 86 of 87 shots faced. Martineillo posted a .989 save percentage and 0.48 goals against average for the week. On Friday, Martiniello saved all 39 shots she faced, including eight on Amherst's power-play advantage. On Saturday, the sophomore posted a career-high 47 saves, including six shots in overtime and all three shootout attempts, allowing the Mules to take the shootout, 1-0.
