NESCAC Weekly Release - Oct. 6, 2025

The NESCAC has released its Players of the Week for the week ending of October 6. The conference recognizes student-athletes for each sport based on their contributions to their team each week based on information provided by the athletic communications offices on each campus. During the fall season, football, field hockey, men's soccer, women's soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Mondays, while cross country performers of the week will be announced on Tuesdays when selected.

NESCAC Field Hockey Co-Players of the Week | Weekly Release
Mackay Bommer – Bowdoin – Sr. – F – Rye, N.Y.
Bommer lifted the Polar Bears to their first win over Middlebury since 2015, handing the No. 2 ranked Panthers their first conference home loss since 2022 in a 2-1 shootout victory on Saturday. Trailing 1-0 in the third quarter, Bommer netted her fifth goal of the season to even the score. After a scoreless fourth quarter and overtime, the match went to a shootout, where Bommer buried the decisive fifth-round tally to seal the win for Bowdoin.
 
Ginna Jacoby – Colby – Fy. – GK – Denver, Colo.
Jacoby tallied a career-high 21 saves in Colby's 5-2 win over 10th-ranked Hamilton. The 21 saves are the most in the NESCAC this season and ranks among the top 10 individual performances in NCAA Division III this year. Jacoby fought off an onslaught to open the game, collecting eight saves as the Mules opened up a 3-1 win after the first quarter.  The first-year was just as impressive to close the game, saving six shots in the closing frame. The Mules managed a victory despite being outshot 33-10 and defending 16 penalty corners by the Continentals.  
 
NESCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Matt Fitzsimons – Wesleyan – Jr. – QB – Somers. N.Y.

Fitzsimons completed 20-of-23 passes for 365 yards and five touchdowns in a 56-14 home win over the Continentals. Fitzsimons completed 13 straight passes during the game while six different Cardinals caught at least one pass. The five passing touchdowns represents the most by a Cardinal quarterback since 2016 while the 365 yards represented his first career 300-yard passing game in what was just his third career start for Wesleyan.
 
NESCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Ameer White – Colby – So. – CB – Rye, N.Y.
White had an interception, a forced fumble, and two pass breakups in Colby's overtime win at Bates. His third interception of the season came late in the second quarter at Colby's 25-yard line to preserve a 3-3 tie at the break. White stopped another Bobcat drive early in the fourth quarter with a forced fumble, again at Colby's 25-yard line, setting up the final game-tying drive. In overtime, White broke up a pass in the end zone on 2nd and goal, helping the Mules win the first leg of the CBB. 
 
NESCAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Will Schneider – Colby – Fy. – K – New York, N.Y.

Schneider accounted for seven of Colby’s 13 points in the overtime win against Bates. The rookie converted two field goals and an extra point in the contest. The first-year opened the scoring late in the first quarter connecting for a 29-yard field goal on Colby's second possession, and his 27-yarder with 29 seconds to play tied the game at 6-6 to force overtime.   

NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Marco Perugini – Conn. College - Jr. – Midfield – Medway, Mass.
Perugini paced Conn. College with six points in a 1-0-1 week. On Tuesday night at Trinity, Perugini assisted both goals for the Camels in a 2-2 draw. On Saturday at Rhode Island College, Perugini led the way with two goals, including a free kick, as the Camels defeated the host Anchormen 4-0.

NESCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Kayley Huleatt – Bowdoin – So. – Midfield – Rifton, N.Y.
Huleatt powered the Polar Bears to a 2-0-0 week with clutch goals in a pair of one-goal victories. Against Middlebury on Saturday, Huleatt opened the scoring with a free-kick strike that put Bowdoin ahead 1-0 in an eventual 2-1 win. Earlier in the week at Emerson, she netted the equalizer just before halftime to spark another 2-1 victory. Huleatt leads the Polar Bears with seven goals and three assists this season.
 
NESCAC Volleyball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Cameron Shelly – Bowdoin - Jr. – S – Austin, Texas
Shelly spearheaded the Polar Bear offense in a 2-0 conference weekend. Shelly dealt 31 assists, had four kills, and two aces in a 3-0 win over Amherst. On Saturday against Hamilton, Shelly totaled 39 assists, 11 digs, and four kills in a 3-1 victory. Shelly entered the weekend averaging 6.63 sets per match and a total of eight kills for the season. She totaled eight kills in the two matches and averaged 10.0 assists per set for the week as she returns to the lineup after dealing with an injury during the first three weeks of the season.
