NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Marco Perugini – Conn. College - Jr. – Midfield – Medway, Mass.
Perugini paced Conn. College with six points in a 1-0-1 week. On Tuesday night at Trinity, Perugini assisted both goals for the Camels in a 2-2 draw. On Saturday at Rhode Island College, Perugini led the way with two goals, including a free kick, as the Camels defeated the host Anchormen 4-0.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Sam Davis (New York, N.Y.) scored the Mammoths' lone goal last week in a 2-1 loss to Wesleyan. It was the sophomore’s first collegiate goal and came in the 56th minute to tie the game, 1-1.
Bates –
George Nassar (Newtonville, Mass.) picked up two more shutouts last week, giving him six for the season. The sophomore tallied a season-high six saves against Williams, including a spectacular save on a penalty kick, followed by another save a few seconds later off the rebound. On Sunday, Nassar recorded five saves in a 2-0 shutout of Hamilton, giving Bates an overall record of 7-2-1, the Bobcats’ best start through 10 matches since 2019. Nassar's .917 save percentage is the best in the NESCAC and tied for seventh-best in the country.
Bowdoin - Bowdoin first-year
Donovan Sinicropi (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored the game's only goal, coming shortly before halftime, as the Polar Bears claimed a key NESCAC win at Middlebury on Saturday, 1-0.
Colby – Sophomore
Jackson Magee (Brookline, Mass.) tallied his third shutout of the season in net for the Mules as Colby played to a draw with Hamilton Saturday. All four of Magee's saves came in the second half as the goalkeeper helped Colby keep the scoresheet clean, defending six corners.
Hamilton – Junior
Peter Montesano Scheibe (Groton, Mass.) and rookie
Tobin Walsh (Glastonbury, Conn.) helped the Continentals post their second and third straight shutouts before they fell 2-0 at Bates. Montesano Scheibe made one save in a 0-0 tie at Colby and Walsh made two stops in a 2-0 victory against Ithaca. Sophomore
Michael Hehir (Kahala, Hawaii) posted the first assist of the sophomore's Hamilton career against Ithaca.
Middlebury – Sophomore
Quinn Pappendick (Cambridge, Mass.) had a solid performance in a 1-1 week for Middlebury. The Panther posted a career afternoon in a 7-1 victory over Thomas. In the 28th minute, with the game tied at 1-1, Pappendick redirected a pass into the middle of the net, which proved to be the game-winner. Late in the second half, the midfielder worked the ball to the top right corner of the box and whipped in a shot that deflected off the left post and into the net for the team’s sixth goal of the contest. Pappendick also logged 30 minutes against Bowdoin.
Tufts -
Ellis Denby (North Andover, Mass.) scored the all-important game winner to secure three points on the road and complete the comeback at Trinity on Saturday. Stepping on as a substitute, the sophomore made every minute count as he found the back of the net. Denby scored in the 81st minute to give the Jumbos a 2-1 lead. His second goal of the season is his second game-winner.
Wesleyan -
Sam Wheeler (Madison, Conn.) knocked in the game-winning goal off a free kick in the 78th minute of a 2-1 home win over Amherst on Saturday. The junior drew a foul on the left wing that led to a free kick that he converted to send the Cardinals past their Little Three rival for the first time since 2015.
Williams –
Lorcan Mitchell (West Springfield, Mass.) a hat-trick in just 30 minutes in Sunday's 6-0 win at Husson. The sophomore also contributed three shots in a 1-0 win over Bates on Saturday.
