NESCAC Weekly Release - Oct. 20, 2025

The NESCAC has released its Players of the Week for the week ending of October 20. The conference recognizes student-athletes for each sport based on their contributions to their team each week based on information provided by the athletic communications offices on each campus. During the fall season, football, field hockey, men's soccer, women's soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Mondays, while cross country performers of the week will be announced on Tuesdays when selected.

NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Kelly Janssen – Hamilton – So. – Goalkeeper – Greenwich, Conn.
Janssen was instrumental in leading the Continentals to a 2-1 win at Amherst in their lone game last week. Janssen entered the game at the start of the third quarter with the score tied 1-1 and made four saves, including three in the two overtime periods. The sophomore proceeded to turn away all three shootout attempts by the Mammoths while Hamilton went 3-for-3. Janssen hasn't allowed a goal in more than 116 minutes.
 
NESCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Jon Oris – Williams – Sr. – RB – Otis, Mass.
Oris rushed 25 times for 198 yards and one touchdown in a 37-30 come-from-behind win against Bates on Saturday. The senior averaged 7.9 yards per carry and recorded a 92-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that capped a string of four consecutive touchdowns by the Ephs to erase a 23-7 deficit and put Williams ahead 37-23.
 
NESCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Ferris Collins – Bowdoin – So. – S – Milton, Mass.
Collins sealed the Polar Bears' first win of the season with a pair of fourth quarter interceptions against the Cardinals on Saturday. Collins’ interception with under seven minutes left in the contest led to a Bowdoin score pushing the Polar Bears’ lead to 25-17. The sophomore’s second interception of the quarter came with 2:41 left and led to a field goal attempt. In addition to eight tackles, Collins also forced a first quarter fumble deep in Bowdoin territory that was recovered by the Polar Bears. The Polar Bears’ defensive unit held the Cardinals, who entered the game averaging 30.1 points per game, to a season-low 17 points. 

NESCAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Eli Soehren – Colby – Jr. – P – Otisfield, Maine
Soehren helped Colby regain field position all afternoon as the Mules ground out a 13-9 win against Amherst.  The junior punted 11 times with a 42.3 average. He booted two punts over 50 yards, landed five inside the 20 and three inside the 10. On back-to-back kicks in the second quarter Soehren settled the ball at the one and two-yard lines, consistently giving the Mammoths a long field to work with. His final punt of the afternoon came out of his own end zone with just over a minute to play with Colby nursing a four-point lead.  
 
NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Daniel Yanez – Tufts – Sr. – Midfield – Short Hills, N.J.
Yanez helped top-ranked Tufts post a 2-0 week with a pair of 2-0 wins over Amherst and Middlebury. The senior tallied both game-winning goals, both from the penalty spot, to help Tufts improve to 10-1-2 on the season and 6-1-2 in the NESCAC. Yanez has scored in three straight games. 
 
NESCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Haley Cramer – Hamilton – So. – Midfield – West Granby, Conn.
Cramer scored two of the Continentals' three goals in a 2-0 week. Cramer's goal in the 81st minute at Amherst gave Hamilton a 1-0 win. The sophomore scored in the 15th minute to give the Continentals a 1-0 lead in an eventual 2-0 victory against Union.
 
NESCAC Volleyball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Sophia Lindus – Wesleyan – Sr. – Outside Hitter - Los Angeles, Calif.
Lindus helped the Cardinals sweep Williams and Middlebury at home to improve to 8-0 in NESCAC play. Lindus totaled 31 kills across three sets, averaging 5.17 kills per set, with just four attack errors on 64 swings for a .422 attack percentage. The senior added 20 digs, averaging 3.33 per set, and four blocks to her totals for the week. Lindus opened with 14 kills and one error on 29 attempts, hitting .448, to go along with five digs and three blocks in a convincing sweep of Williams. The outside hitter followed up with season-high totals in kills (17) and digs (15) against Middlebury, finishing with 16 kills across the final two sets combined.
