Every Monday during the season, one NESCAC Player of the Week will be selected based on information submitted by the athletic communications offices at member institutions.
NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Daniel Yanez – Tufts – Sr. – Midfield – Short Hills, N.J.
Yanez helped top-ranked Tufts post a 2-0 week with a pair of 2-0 wins over Amherst and Middlebury. The senior tallied both game-winning goals, both from the penalty spot, to help Tufts improve to 10-1-2 on the season and 6-1-2 in the NESCAC. Yanez has scored in three straight games.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Junior
Mohammed Nuhu (Accra, Ghana) gave the Mammoths a 2-0 lead with his seventh goal of the year in an eventual 2-1 win over Hamilton last week.
Bates – Junior
Antonio Mesa (Bogata, Colombia) tallied his fourth goal of the season last week, netting the equalizer in the 62nd minute of a 2-2 draw with the University of Southern Maine. Mesa's four goals this season are the first four of his collegiate career and rank second on the team.
Bowdoin - Senior
Tyler Huck (Ross, Calif.) had a goal and an assist on Sunday at Endicott, moving him into third place all-time in program history with 79 career points.
Colby –
Ryan Stewart (West Chester, Pa.) tallied the game-tying goal with 47 seconds remaining Saturday in Hartford to help the Mules earn a 1-1 draw with the Bantams. Playing all 90 minutes, the score was the senior defender's first for the season and second of his career.
Conn. College - Senior forward
Matt Quiros-Newton (Alajuela, Costa Rica) led Conn. College with five points in a 2-0 week. On Tuesday against Coast Guard, Quiros-Newton had a career day, tallying four points on one goal and two assists as the Camels defeated the Bears, 3-0. Quiros-Newton followed up by assisting on the only tally in a 1-0 win at Bates on Saturday.
Hamilton – Junior
Patrick Ferrare (Montville, N.J.) scored on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute of the Continentals' 2-1 setback at Amherst. Ferrare leads Hamilton with five goals and 12 points.
Williams – Rookie
JJ Ruehlemann (Waldwick, N.J.) scored his first collegiate hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in a 5-1 triumph against Keene State on Saturday for the No. 11-ranked Ephs.
