NESCAC NCAA Update - May 13, 2024

Baseball
Colby and Middlebury received bids to the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. The Panthers were an automatic selection by winning their third NESCAC title and are making their fourth NCAA appearance. Colby was an at-large bid and is in the NCAA field for the first time in program history.
 
Regional action will be played Friday-Sunday, May 17-19 at 16 regional sites. Colby faces Salve Regina in the Cortland Regional while Middlebury is scheduled to play Keystone in the Misericordia Regional.
Softball | Bracket
Tufts and Williams were selected for the NCAA Division III Softball Championship. The Ephs were an automatic selection after capturing their eighth NESCAC title overall and repeating as conference champions.
 
Tufts is making its 21st NCAA appearance and will host a regional at Spicer Field. The Jumbos meet Western New England University in the opening game. Williams is in the field for the 10th time in program history and will travel to Bangor, Maine for a regional at Husson where it will play RPI.
Men’s Golf
Tufts, the 2024 NESCAC Champion, is participating in the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships for the first time in program history. The tournament is set to be held at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada, May 14-17. The team and individual champions will be determined after 72 holes of play or the conclusion of the last fully completed round. After 36 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and the top six individuals not on one of those teams. 
Women’s Golf
Williams earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship after winning the NESCAC title for the sixth time. The Ephs are making their 15th NCAA appearance and won the NCAA title in 2015. The tournament will be played on May 21-24 at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

The championships will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. Following 36 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on one of those teams will compete on the final day. In the team competition, the low four scores from each team for each day will count in the team’s total score.


Men’s Lacrosse | Bracket
Three NESCAC teams emerged victorious after first and second-round action in the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
Bowdoin and Middlebury will play in a quarterfinal on May 18 at 3 p.m. on the campus of RIT in Rochester, N.Y. The winner will move on to face the RIT/Christopher Newport winner on May 19. Tufts will meet St. John Fisher on May 18 at 7:30 p.m. in a quarterfinal game played at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Md. The winner advances to play the Washington & Lee/Salisbury winner.

Women’s Lacrosse | Bracket
Colby, Middlebury, Tufts, and Wesleyan all advanced to the third round of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship. Colby and Wesleyan will meet in the third round on May 18 at 11:30 a.m. in Middletown, Conn. on the Wesleyan campus. Gettysburg and William Smith are the other matchup in the pod. The winners will play in a quarterfinal game on May 19 at 1 p.m. Middlebury is hosting the third round and quarterfinal contests at Kohn Field on May 18-19. The Panthers face Colorado College at 11:30 a.m. in a third-round game on May 18. The winner will play the winner of Ithaca/Pomona-Pitzer on May 19. Tufts travels to Lancaster, Pa. to face Denison in a third-round matchup. Host, Franklin & Marshall, plays Roanoke in the other half to the bracket. The winners square off on May 19.
