The NESCAC has released its Players of the Week for the week ending on January 25. The conference recognizes student-athletes in each sport each week for their contributions to their teams, based on information provided by the athletic communications offices on each campus. During the winter season, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's ice hockey players of the week will be announced on Mondays. NESCAC men's and women's swimming & diving athletes of the week will be announced on select Tuesdays.
NESCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Sam Pohlman – Wesleyan – Sr. – F – New York, N.Y.
Throughout the first half on Saturday in the Cardinals’ upset win over Trinity, which saw Wesleyan snap the Bantams' 32-game win streak, Pohlman either scored or assisted on the first eight Wesleyan baskets, making his first seven shot attempts, including four from 3-point range. The senior scored 20 of his game-high 22 points in the first half while adding four assists and four rebounds.
NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Sofia Tavarez – Conn. College – Fy. – G – Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.
Tavarez came off the bench to score a game-high 20 points and added four rebounds, three assists, and a steal in a 55-38 win over Tufts. The Camels broke open a four-point game with a 15-0 run to start the fourth quarter, where the rookie scored or assisted eight points in the spurt to lead the Camels to their first win over the Jumbos since 2015 and their first win at Tufts since 1996. It also marked Tavarez’s fourth game of the season with 20 points or more.

Will Lawrence – Conn. College – So. - F – Bethesda, Md.
Lawrence contributed on six of the seven goals the Camels scored last weekend in a split with Trinity and Wesleyan. The sophomore led the Camels with six points on two goals and four assists, adding three blocks. On Friday night in a 4-2 win over the Bantams, Lawrence recorded three points on a goal and two assists, including the tying goal late in the second period, before adding an assist on the insurance marker late in the third, as the Camels secured their first season sweep of Trinity since 2008-09. Against the Cardinals, Lawrence added three more points, assisting Conn. College's first two goals and added a redirect goal in the third period.
NESCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Erin Pye – Williams – Sr. – G – Third Lake, Ill.
Pye stopped a combined 53-of-54 shots for a .981 save percentage and earned two wins in a sweep of No. 10 Colby in Waterville, Maine. The senior recorded her third shutout of the season with 24 saves in a 2-0 win Friday evening, and stopped 29-of-30 shots during a 4-1 triumph Saturday.
