NESCAC Weekly Release - Jan. 12, 2026

The NESCAC has released its Players of the Week for the week ending on January 11. The conference recognizes student-athletes in each sport each week for their contributions to their teams, based on information provided by the athletic communications offices on each campus. During the winter season, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's ice hockey players of the week will be announced on Mondays. NESCAC men's and women's swimming & diving athletes of the week will be announced on select Tuesdays.

NESCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Zach Wolinski – Wesleyan – So. – G – North Andover, Mass.
Wolinski posted a pair of 20+ point games to lead the Cardinals to a pair of double-digit road wins to kick off NESCAC play. Wolinski netted a career-high 26 points on 9-for-15 shooting and 3-of-6 from three to go along with five rebounds and two assists as the Cardinals led 40-15 at halftime against Williams before going on to win 84-71 in Williamstown. The sophomore guard followed with a 22-point effort at Middlebury on 7-for-15 shooting as the Cardinals led by as many as 25 points in the first half before finishing off a convincing 86-62 win over the Panthers in Vermont. 
 
NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Abbie Quinn – Bowdoin – Jr. – F – Bangor, Maine
Quinn led the Polar Bears to a pair of double-digit road wins to start the NESCAC season, at Tufts and Conn. College. Quinn scored 22 points with eight boards, shooting 63 percent from the field at Tufts before scoring 16 points with four boards and three blocks in 25 minutes at Conn. College. For the weekend, Quinn averaged 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and shot 63 percent from the field (12-19) and 87 percent from the line (14-16). 
 
NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Hayden Hanes – Wesleyan – Jr. - F – Greenwich, Conn.
Hanes piled up four points on three goals and one assist for the Cardinals in a pair of NESCAC wins over Williams and Middlebury, outscoring those two opponents by a combined score of 10-3, and propelling the Cardinals to third place in the conference standings. Hanes posted one assist in Wesleyan's 6-1 win over Williams, which tied for the largest margin of victory for the Cardinals against the Ephs in the series history. The junior followed with a three-point game, scoring twice and assisting on another, in the Cardinals' 4-2 win over Middlebury. The forward scored twice in a span of less than four minutes, the second of which proved to be the game-winner for the Cardinals.
 
NESCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Nani Keyes – Trinity – Fy. – F – Guilford, Conn.
Keyes helped power the Bantams' offense, potting a goal in every game and registering four points with three goals and an assist in a 3-0 week, including the team’s first two NESCAC wins of the year on the road at Bowdoin. In a 4-1 win over Albertus Magnus, Keyes logged a goal and an assist. The rookie provided the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over the Polar Bears and chipped in an insurance tally in the 3-1 win at Bowdoin in the series finale.
