The NESCAC has released its Players of the Week for the week ending of September 7. The conference recognizes student-athletes for each sport based on their contributions to their team each week based on information provided by the athletic communications offices on each campus. During the fall season, football (starting on Sept. 15), field hockey, men's soccer, women's soccer, and volleyball will be announced on Mondays, while cross country performers of the week will be announced on Tuesdays.
Field Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Megan Fuqua – Middlebury – Jr. – Midfield - Medfield, Mass.
Fuqua tallied a team-leading nine points to pace the Panthers to a 3-0 record to begin the 2025 campaign. The midfielder opened the season with a career-high two goals and five points in a 10-0 triumph over Vermont State University Castleton. Fuqua added a marker in a 2-1 shootout win over Hamilton before scoring the game-winning goal during the squad's 2-0 victory over No. 15 Bryn Mawr to close the weekend. The junior sits atop the NESCAC leaderboard in points (9) and goals (4).
Men’s Soccer Player of the Week | Weekly Release
JJ Ruehlemann – Williams - Fy. – Forward – Waldwick, N.J.
Ruehlemann scored three of the Ephs’ four goals in a 1-0-1 week to open the season. The rookie scored twice, including burying the game-winning tally, in a 3-1 win at Tufts on Saturday. The Ephs won at Tufts for the first time since 2010, and the victory was Williams' first overall win in the rivalry since 2013. Ruehlemann also buried a goal in the fifth minute in a 1-1 season-opening tie against Wheaton (MA) on Tuesday.
Women’s Soccer Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Jessica Lomo – Amherst – Jr. – Forward - Accra, Ghana
Lomo scored three goals of Amherst’s six goals and added an assist for a seven-point week as Amherst started the season 3-0-0 with wins over WPI, Conn. College, and Smith. Lomo assisted the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over WPI in the season opener. In the NESCAC opener, a 3-0 victory at Conn. College, the junior scored in the 42nd minute for what proved to be the game-winning goal. In a 2-1 win over Smith, the forward tallied both Amherst goals in the second half, including the game-winner with 24 minutes remaining. Lomo leads the Mammoths with seven points after the first week of the season.
Volleyball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Maya Hall – Trinity - So. – Middle Blocker – New York, N.Y.
Hall helped power the Bantams to a 4-0 start to the season, racking up a team-high 34 kills on a .460 hitting percentage with 13 digs, a team-high 12 blocks, six service aces, and three assists. The sophomore logged back-to-back double-digit kill efforts in wins over Vermont State-Castleton and Norwich, including her first double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs against the Spartans.
