NESCAC Volleyball Weekly Release - Sept. 8, 2025

Every Monday during the season, a NESCAC Player of the Week will be selected based on information submitted by the athletic communications offices at member institutions.

NESCAC Volleyball Player of the Week
Maya Hall – Trinity - So. – Middle Blocker – New York, N.Y.
Hall helped power the Bantams to a 4-0 start to the season, racking up a team-high 34 kills on a .460 hitting percentage with 13 digs, a team-high 12 blocks, six service aces, and three assists. The sophomore logged back-to-back double-digit kill efforts in wins over Vermont State-Castleton and Norwich, including her first double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs against the Spartans.

NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Addison Lau (New Fairfield, Conn.) led Amherst to a 3-1 week with wins over Mt. Holyoke, previously unbeaten Oswego State, and Western New England. The rookie led the team in kills with 49 and kills per set with 3.77 and a .347 hit percentage. Lau was a standout on the defensive side as well with 32 digs (third on the team) and a serve reception percentage of .945 in a team-high 55 attempts. The outside hitter had a week-high of 17 kills in the four-set win over Western New England and notched 15 kills and 14 digs in a four-set loss to WPI. Lau also had three aces and two blocks to her weekly totals.

Bates – Anaïs Reneaum (San Diego, Calif.) is off to a strong start to the season, averaging 3.10 kills per set and an attack percentage of .473. Defensively, the sophomore is averaging almost a block per set as the Bobcats are off to a 2-1 start to the season.

Bowdoin – Junior Skye LaMendola (Farmers Branch, Texas) had 17 kills and nine digs on Saturday in the Polar Bears’ first win of the season, a 3-0 shutout of Hartwick at the Cortland Red Dragon Tournament. In four matches last week, LaMendola averaged 3.5 kills and 3.25 digs per set with seven service aces.

Colby – Brady Moseley (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) led Colby to five wins in the opening week, all three-set sweeps. The junior collected 47 kills across the week, hitting .351 with six aces, 29 digs, and four blocks. Moseley had just one receiving error out of 64 attempts and currently ranks second in the NESCAC with 3.62 kills per set.

Connecticut CollegeRae Wartelle (Tacoma, Wash.) opened the 2025 season with team highs of 42 kills and nine blocks over four matches last week as the Camels posted a 2-2 mark. The junior hit .522 and recorded match highs of 14 kills and four blocks in a 3-0 sweep of Salve Regina in the season opener. Wartelle 2025 MIT Invitational All-Tournament Team honors, highlighted by nine kills in a win over Suffolk and 13 kills and four blocks in a five-set loss against Brandeis.

HamiltonCaitlin Allen (Wilton, Conn. ) was named to the all-tournament team at the William Smith Tournament. Allen averaged 2.64 kills, 1.36 blocks, and had a .349 hitting percentage in 11 sets over three matches. The junior posted a career-high 11 kills in a four-set win against Alfred. Allen tied a career best with nine blocks and added eight kills in a four-set loss to Buffalo State. The middle hitter smacked 10 kills with one error in 18 attempts in a three-set loss to William Smith. 

Middlebury – Caroline Byrne (Carmel, Calif.) led the Middlebury attack in a four-match opening weekend. The sophomore tallied 35 total kills and had nine service aces to help the squad to a 3-1 mark. In the final match of the weekend against Clarkson, Byrne tallied her second double-double of her career with 11 successful attacks and 11 digs for a 3-0 sweep. The outside hitter’s nine aces sit second in the conference after the opening week of action.

Tufts – Emma Heckman (San Diego, Cali.f) helped Tufts post a 3-1 weekend, which included wins over two teams receiving votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll in Salisbury and Gettysburg. For the week, Heckman finished with 42 total kills in four matches, posting 2.80 kills per set while hitting .330. The junior added 10 blocks, including three solo stuffs. Heckman posted a season-high 14 kills against Salisbury Saturday in a five-set win, and started the season with 11 kills on 14 swings against Roger Williams. 
 
WesleyanKeira Sweetnam (Marblehead, Mass.) enjoyed a career weekend in what were the first three starts of her career. In three matches, all of which ended in Wesleyan sweeps, the junior outside hitter posted 22 kills with just one error in 43 attempts. Sweetnam hit .488 combined in the three matches and added four total blocks and four digs. The junior finished with a career-high 10 kills in a sweep of Roger Williams while totaling seven kills with two digs and a career-high three total blocks against Wheaton. 

Williams – Junior Tatum Baker (Portola Valley, Calif.) posted a team-high 27 kills for the weekend, hitting .393 overall to help lead the Ephs to a 3-0 weekend at the Skidmore Classic and a 4-0 start overall. Baker’s best match included a double-double performance of 11 kills and 11 digs in the Ephs’ three-set win over Oneonta on Saturday.
