NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
JJ Ruehlemann – Williams - Fy. – Forward – Waldwick, N.J.
Ruehlemann scored three of the Ephs’ four goals in a 1-0-1 week to open the season. The rookie scored twice, including burying the game-winning tally, in a 3-1 win at Tufts on Saturday. The Ephs won at Tufts for the first time since 2010, and the victory was Williams' first overall win in the rivalry since 2013. Ruehlemann also buried a goal in the fifth minute in a 1-1 season-opening tie against Wheaton (MA) on Tuesday.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Trey Sheppard (Columbus, Ohio) stopped all five shots on goal last week as the Mammoths began the season 1-0-1, tying Suffolk 0-0 and defeating No. 2 Conn. College, 2-0. The sophomore made three saves in the draw versus Suffolk and two in the shutout of the Camels, a rematch of the 2024 NCAA National Championship game.
Bates –
Chris Bianco (East Greenwich, R.I.) scored a goal in his collegiate debut, a 3-0 win over Saint Joseph's (ME). The first-year followed that up with a goal in the NESCAC opener for Bates, a 1-1 draw at Trinity.
Bowdoin –
Tyler Huck (Ross, Calif.) propelled the Polar Bears to a pair of wins, contributing on four of Bowdoin's six goals in the opening week. Huck scored Bowdoin's first two goals (both in the first half) of a season-opening 4-0 victory over the Univ. of New England on Tuesday. The senior followed up with a pair of perfectly-placed assists - on a corner kick in the ninth minute and a free kick in the 20th minute - to set up Bowdoin's 2-1 win at Colby on Saturday.
Colby – First-year
Jude Gussen (Fairfield, Conn.) tallied the first two scores of his collegiate career in Colby's opening-match 4-1 victory over Thomas. Gussen’s first strike midway through the second half proved to be the game-winner, and his second score later in the frame put the match out of reach.
Connecticut College - Senior goalkeeper
TJ Krongard (Montclair, N.J.) led Conn between the sticks during the opening week of the season. In the season opener on Tuesday against Hartford, Krongard made his first career start, earning a clean sheet on the day. On Saturday against Amherst, the senior recorded two saves, including stopping a penalty kick in the second half.
Hamilton -
Peter Montesano Scheibe (Groton, Mass.) helped lead the Continentals to a 1-0-1 week. Montesano Scheibe made six saves for the junior's first career shutout in a 0-0 tie with Middlebury. Montesano Scheibe played the first 76-plus minutes of a 4-0 win at Oswego State and recorded an assist on a free kick from midfield on Hamilton's second goal.
Middlebury –
Will Sawin (Stonington, Conn.) helped lead Middlebury to a 1-0-1 record to open the season. In the season opener versus Bridgewater State, Sawin tallied a career-best five points with two goals and an assist to lead the Panthers to a 5-0 triumph. The forward also had a team-best two shots on goal in a 0-0 tie against Hamilton.
Trinity – Junior
Jack Murphy (Alexandria, Va.) registered a pair of goals for Trinity, including the game-winning tally, in a 4-0 victory over Framingham State to open the 2025 season.
Wesleyan - Junior midfielder
Yousuf Saeed (Houston, Texas) either scored or assisted on all three of Wesleyan's goals in a 3-0 home win over Western New England on Wednesday. Saaed finished with two goals and one assist, marking his first career multi-goal game.
