Tufts Returns to Fourth Straight NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship Game

The Tufts Jumbos' quest for a three-peat is alive. Tufts cruised past NESCAC foe Wesleyan to reach the national championship game for the fourth year in a row. The Jumbos will face RIT in the title game on May 24 at Noon at Scott Stadium on the campus of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.

Jack Regnery scored seven goals and Brooks Hauser added five as Tufts rolled past Wesleyan 23-7 at Bello Field, advancing the Jumbos to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse National Championship Game for the fourth consecutive season.

Tufts (22-1) established control from the opening faceoff, building an 11-3 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. Peter Kraemer chipped in four goals, including two man-up scores, and Chase Beyer added four goals and two assists. The Jumbos dominated possession, winning faceoffs 26-8 and outpacing Wesleyan in ground balls 49-16.

Wesleyan (14-6) showed flashes, as Gavin Lechner and Will Miller each scored twice and the Cardinals trimmed the deficit to 19-6 on Charlie Wilmot's third-quarter goal. But Tufts responded with four straight to put the game away.

Tufts goalkeeper Jack Old made seven saves before giving way to Alex Dircks in the fourth quarter.

The two-time defending champions won their fifth national title last May with a dominant 25-8 victory over Dickinson College at Gillette Stadium, with Hauser earning Most Outstanding Player honors. The Jumbos will look to three-peat at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Va., next weekend.
