For the fifth time in six years, the top four seeds in the NESCAC Women's Lacrosse Championship advanced to the semifinals. Top-seeded Middlebury will host the remaining rounds of the championhip at Peter Kohn Field on May 2-3.
No. 1 Middlebury def. No. 8 Bates, 18-6 | Box Score
Haley Hamilton scored four goals and Parker Hanson added three assists as No. 1 Middlebury rolled to an 18-6 victory over Bates on at Peter Kohn Field.
Hamilton, who now has 48 goals on the season, opened the scoring and Skylar Lach contributed three goals, while Siobhan Colin, Caroline Adams and Maeve Lee each added two as the Panthers held a 9-3 advantage at the half and never looked back. Middlebury held the Bobcats scoreless in the first and fourth frames.
The Panthers dominated the draw circle 18-7 and outshot Bates 39-16. Middlebury goalkeeper Elizabeth Savage made seven saves for the Panthers. Grace Yonchak and Lauren Wong each scored twice for Bates and Virginia Avery stopped 12 shots in net for the Bobcats.
No. 2 Tufts def. No. 7 Colby, 20-7 | Box Score
Allie Zorn scored seven goals and Schuyler Lloyd added four more as Tufts pulled away from Colby, 20-7, at Bello Field.
Zorn, who has 44 goals on the year, scored six times in the first half alone. Lloyd contributed four goals and an assist as Tufts built an 8-0 lead after the first quarter, effectively putting the game out of reach early.
Eleanor Helm chipped in two goals and an assist for the Jumbos, who outshot Colby 28-21 and controlled the draw circle 15-13.
Colby outscored Tufts, 4-3, to close the final deficit. Joselyn Silva led the Mules with two goals, while goalkeeper Gigi Peloso made four saves in relief after replacing Brynna Hall early in the first quarter.
No. 3 Wesleyan def. No. 6 Williams, 14-3 | Box Score
Dylan Green scored five goals and Wesleyan dominated the middle two quarters to pull away from Williams, 14-3, at Smith Field.
Green, who raised her season total to 26 goals, sparked the Cardinals’ 6-0 second quarter to break open a 2-2 tie. Green scored the opening goal of the second frame and netted the final two goals of the quarter to push Wesleyan in front 8-3 at the break.
Addie Cummings and Elle Priesing each added two goals for the Cardinals, while goalkeeper Izzy Weintraub made 10 saves.
Paige Nelson (2 goals) and Ainsley Abel (1 goal) accounted for the Ephs’ scoring. Charlotte Cote stopped 14 shots in net for Williams.
No. 4 Trinity def. No. 5 Amherst, 9-8 | Box Score
Alex Lesko scored four goals and Kelsey Restivo added four assists to lead Trinity past Amherst, 9-8, for the second time in four days at Robin L. Sheppard Field.
With the game tied 6-6 after three quarters and 7-7 with 6:21 remaining in the game, Trinity scored twice in the final 3:25 to pull out the victory. Amherst's Emily Petersen scored with 27 seconds left to pull the Mammoths within one, and her last-second shot was stopped by Trinity goalie Alison MacDougall (9 saves) to seal the win.
Clara Sosa led Amherst with three goals, while Bridget Darcy and Bridget Finley each added two. Mia Raven distributed three assists for the Mammoths. Jessye Salmon made eight saves for Amherst.
