Nine podium finishes led by Williams first-year Maggie Farley's fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly and a NESCAC Record in the men's 200 freestyle relay by Bates highlighted Day 2 at the 2026 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at IU Natatorium on the IU Indianapolis campus.
Competition continues on Friday, March 20 with prelim swims and diving trials starting at 10 a.m. (ET). The evening session is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. (ET).

Men’s 200 Freestyle
Amherst sophomore Jack Goepfrich finished seventh in the championship heat in the 200 freestyle to open the second night of competition. Goepfrich posted a time of 1:37.78. In the consolation final, Williams rookie Sam Brozek finished second (1:37.75) and Bates’ John Weigel was fourth (1:38.42).
Women’s 100 Butterfly
Williams rookie Maggie Farley led the NESCAC contingent in the event with a fourth-place finish and time of 54.42. Teammate Esme Van Orden placed eighth at 55.27. In the consolation final, Amherst’s Maeve Kelly finished seventh with a time of 55.98.
Men’s 400 IM
Amherst first-year Owen Vale finished fifth in the 400 IM, posting a time of 3:51.86. Vale was the lone NESCAC swimmer to qualify for the evening session in the event.
Women’s 400 IM
Williams rookie Sophie Phelps paced the NESCAC swimmers in the 400 IM with a sixth-place finish and a time of 4:22.88. Tufts senior Madeleine Dunn finished eighth, touching up at 4:25.01.
Women’s 1-Meter Diving
The Amherst duo of Brooke Ronan and Donna Zhang finished 11
th and 16th, respectively. Ronan totaled 423.10 points while Zhang registered 384.40 points.
Men’s 200 Freestyle Relay
In the final event of the night session, the Bates relay of John Weigel, Marrich Somridhivej, Benjamin Wolking, and Max Cory led the four NESCAC relays in the two heats. The Bobcats placed fifth with a combined time of 1:18.94, resetting the NESCAC Record they set at the conference championship meet in February. The Tufts foursome of Isaac Shang, Will Kaminski, Max Gerke, and Armaan Sikka finished seventh (1:19.40). In the consolation final, the Bowdoin relay claimed first place. Raphael Grand’Pierre, Micah Sher, Henry Peters, and Jack Tran recorded a time of 1:20.03 just ahead of Williams. Eph swimmers Mason Green, Theo Randall, Gabe Lee, and Sam Brozek combined for a time of 1:20.28.
Women’s 200 Freestyle Relay
Four NESCAC relays competed in the consolation final of the 200 freestyle relay. The Williams quartet of Maggie Farley, Emma Dimter, Clare McDermott, and Sophie Phelps paced the NESCAC teams with a second-place finish in the heat and time of 1:32.65. The Tufts team of Isabella Chambers, Alex Lazorisak, Sydney Stasz, and Katherine Skelly combined for a time of 1:33.17 to finish fourth. The Colby squad of Caitlin Lacey, Lucy Mackey, Eliza Marco, and Zoe Buzzelli was sixth (1:33.40) and Hamilton rounded out the relays with an eighth-place finish. Carolyn Miner, Jade Matthias, Paige Wielgus, and Chloe Lan totaled a time of 1:34.14.
