Amherst Diving Duo Qualify for NCAA Championships

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Amherst diving duo of Donna Zhang and Brooke Ronan qualified for the NCAA Championships following two days of competition at the NCAA Diving Regionals hosted by Connecticut College.
 
The NCAA Division III Championship meet is scheduled for March 18-21 at IU Natatorium on the campus of IU Indianapolis. The women’s 1-meter diving event will take place on Thursday (Mar. 19) that week, while the 3-meter competition is set for Saturday (Mar. 21).
 
Zhang, a senior, posted back-to-back runner-up performances on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards to earn a spot among the 24 divers in the championship field. Zhang scored 440.55 points on the 1-meter board, just 1.75 points off the championship mark, and 463.30 points on the 3-meter board.
 
Ronan, a first-year diver, finished fourth on the 1-meter board (427.45 points) and third in the 3-meter competition with 460.90 points in her first collegiate diving regional.
