NESCAC Weekly Release - Jan. 5, 2026

The NESCAC has released its Players of the Week for the week ending on January 4. The conference recognizes student-athletes in each sport each week for their contributions to their teams, based on information provided by the athletic communications offices on each campus. During the winter season, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's ice hockey players of the week will be announced on Mondays. NESCAC men's and women's swimming & diving athletes of the week will be announced on select Tuesdays.

NESCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Scott Gyimesi – Tufts – Sr. – F – Fair Haven, N.J.
Gyimesi helped lead No. 21 Tufts to a pair of wins, including knocking off No. 17 WPI on Saturday. The senior forward averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds and was 19-of-29 (65.5%) from the floor on the week. On Wednesday against Clark, Gyimesi finished with 22 points, including hitting the game-winning shot with 0.1 seconds to play in a 79-77 win. He then posted another double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds in a 70-52 win over WPI. 
 
NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Taylor Lambo – Hamilton – Sr. – C – Watertown, Mass.
Lambo averaged a double-double and shot 62 percent (13-for-21) from the floor in a 2-1 week for the Continentals. Lambo posted 12 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks in a 77-54 win over Vassar. In a 59-52 victory over Vermont State University Castleton, the senior collected 14 points and 14 boards. Lambo added 10 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and two steals in an 86-48 setback against No. 1 New York University. Lambo has 31 career double-doubles.
 
NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Jacob Osborne – Bowdoin – So. - G – Gloucester, Ontario
Osborne was named the Most Valuable Player of the inaugural Lobster Pot Tournament on January 2-3, as the Polar Bears claimed the first-ever tournament title featuring the four Division III men's hockey programs in Maine. The sophomore posted a 23-save shutout in a semifinal win over the University of Southern Maine and followed it up with a 31-save effort against No. 7 University of New England, holding the nation's third-ranked scoring offense to a pair of goals in a 6-2 victory. For the weekend, Osborne posted a 1.00 GAA and a .964 save percentage. 
 
NESCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Gretchen Dann – Amherst – Sr. – D – Hanover, N.H.
Amherst went 2-0-0 last week, capturing SUNY Morrisville's Mustang Cup Championship with a 3-1 win over No. 9 Adrian College. In the title game, Dann scored the game-winner with 2:36 left in the third period. In a 4-1 win over the Mustangs in the tourney opener, Dann scored twice in a 4-1 victory while assisting on the game-winning goal. A senior defender, Dann leads the Mammoths with seven goals and is tied for the team lead in points with 11. Amherst is ranked No. 2 in the nation and stands at 7-0-2.
