HADLEY, Mass. - The 2025 NESCAC Men's Tennis awards were announced on Wednesday. Vuk Vuksanovic was the recipient of the NESCAC Player of the Year honor, while Jason Daly of Colby was selected as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year, and fellow Mule Jake Cohen was named the Clarence Chaffee Sportsmanship Award winner. The Tufts staff was voted as the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year by their peers.
Vuksanovic, a five-time All-NESCAC performer, is the second Jumbo to earn the NESCAC Player of the Year honor (Boris Sorkin, 2021). Playing at the top of the ladder for Tufts, Vuksanovic owns a 14-2 record and has won 11 matches in a row. He has also teamed up with Javier Gonzalez at No. 1 doubles and the duo has combined for a 15-3 record. The Jumbos earned the top seed in the NESCAC Championship and own a 20-2 mark heading into the NCAA Tournament.
Daly played at the No. 2 spot and went 12-2 for the Mules, including a 6-3 record over his last 10 matches. Daly finished the year with a 14-5 record in singles and went 15-8 on the doubles courts with a 9-4 mark at the No. 1 doubles slot. Daly is the second Colby player to garner NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors (Carl Reid, 2014). Colby qualified for the NESCAC Championship for the fourth year in a row.
Cohen is the recipient of the Clarence Chaffee Sportsmanship Award which is given annually to the individual who has displayed a high standard of tennis coupled with the highest levels of sportsmanship. Cohen is the third Mule to be selected for the honor (Bryan Brown, 2009 / Owen Patrick, 2001). Cohen also earned his second All-NESCAC citation with a spot on the First Team after posting a 12-9 record at No. 1 singles and a 14-8 mark at No. 1 doubles.
The Tufts staff was recognized for the second time in four years after leading the Jumbos to the top seed in the NESCAC Championship and a 20-2 record. Tufts received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, qualifying for the fourth year in a row.
