Tufts Moves into NCAA Men's Tennis Semifinals

In NCAA Quarterfinal action at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tenn., Tufts dispatched Swarthmore, 4-1, to move into the NCAA Semifinals for the fourth time in the last five years and second straight season. The Bowdoin Polar Bears dropped a 4-2 decision to close out the 2026 season.

No. 3 Tufts knocked off No. 7 Swarthmore, 4-1. The Jumbos (23-2) face the University of Chicago on Wednesday, May 20, at 11 a.m. in the NCAA semifinals. It will be Tufts' fourth appearance in the NCAA semifinals in the last five years, and the second consecutive. Tufts claimed the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Stavros Mastrogamvrakis/Javier Gonzalez picked up a quick win at No. 3, 6-2, to put the Jumbos ahead. The doubles point was clinched at No. 2 doubles, as Keatan Mehta/Andrej Djokic posted a 6-4 win. In singles, Mehta put the Jumbos ahead 2-0 with a straight set win 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6. Minutes later, Sacha Maes posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 5 to make it 3-0 Tufts. Swarthmore would win at No. 4 singles, but the clinching point to put the Jumbos through to the semifinals came at No. 2 with Alex Ganchev winning 6-4, 6-3.

Bowdoin saw its season come to a close in a 4-2 loss to UChicago. The Polar Bears started off on the right foot, winning the first two completed doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Kiran Garapati/Simon Catanzario claimed a 6-2 win at No. 2 and Mark Kneiss/Jackson Codd closed out a 6-3 win at No. 1. Codd claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles to quickly push the Bowdoin lead to 2-0, but Chicago claimed straight-set wins on the No. 4 and No. 6 courts to even the score. With the match in the balance, Chicago won a pair of first-set tiebreakers on courts one and two, setting themselves up for second-set wins at both positions to finish off the 4-2 comeback victory. Bowdoin ends its season with 19 victories (19-5), the fifth-most in a single season in school history, its third NCAA Quarterfinal appearance in the last four seasons, and 2026 NESCAC Runners-Up.
