Every Tuesday throughout the swimming & diving season, the NESCAC Performers of the Week will be announced. 

Women’s Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week
Sophie Phelps – Williams – Fy. – Nantucket, Mass.
Phelps delivered a standout performance with seven first-place finishes. The rookie swept all three of her individual events, winning the 100 freestyle (51.19), the 200 freestyle (1:50.37), and the 200 IM (2:02.32). Phelps was also part of four victorious relays, recording a 22.79 split on the 200 freestyle relay, a 22.96 freestyle leg on the 200 medley relay, a 51.18 split on the 400 freestyle relay, and a 50.30 freestyle leg on the 400 medley relay.

NESCAC Honor Roll
BatesSarah Palmer (Brunswick, Maine) had an outstanding meet this past weekend. She broke two Maine State Invitational records and posted two top 10 NCAA times. The junior posted times of 1:03.2 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:18.5 in the 200 breaststroke. Palmer also posted lifetime-best splits and swims in all of the freestyle events she swam.

Bowdoin – Harper Stevenson (Manchester Center, Vt.) swam very well in a range of individual and relay events over the weekend at the Maine Collegiate Invitational. The junior won the 500 freestyle in a personal best time of 5:00.69 and the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:06.59. Stevenson was second in the 200 IM (2:08.44), third in the 200 freestyle (1:53.92), and third in the 100 butterfly (57.05). Stevenson was also a key member of all four of Bowdoin A relays. 

Colby – At the Maine Collegiate Invitational, Alexis Coates (Vassa, N.C.) won the 50 backstroke (25.94), the 100 backstroke in an NCAA B-Cut time of 55.94, and the 200 backstroke in another NCAA B-Cut time of 2:02.52. The sophomore’s times in the 50 backstroke and 200 backstroke are personal bests and Colby records, while the 100 backstroke time set the meet record. Coates also led off Colby's winning 200 medley relay (1:42.34), which achieved an NCAA B-cut and meet record, and anchored Colby's B 400 freestyle relay in 51.89.

Hamilton – Jade Matthias (Reading, Pa.) had an excellent weekend at the MIT Invitational. The senior secured an individual NCAA B-Cut in the 100 backstroke, was part of a school record 200 medley relay, and part of a 200 freestyle relay, which posted a time .01 off last year's NCAA time. Matthias posted a 50 freestyle split of 22.95 in the medley prelims, which was her fastest of the weekend, while her other splits were 23.25 and 23.09. Other times were: 50 freestyle flat start (23.74), 100 butterfly time of 57.36, 100 freestyle time of 53.50, and 100 backstroke time of 56.56.

TrinityIris Huerta Lala (Eagan, Minn.) had a standout meet at the Jayden Szkirka Memorial Cup at Wesleyan. The sophomore started off the meet by posting a 24 split for the first time in the 200 freestyle relay. Huerta Lala followed up with a 57.8 split in the butterfly leg of the 400 medley relay. On Day Two, she went even faster, swimming a personal best in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.38, which is good for third on Trinity’s top 10 list. Later in the day, Huerta Lala swam another personal best in the 200 butterfly, breaking 2:10 for the first time with a time of 2:09.95 and good for fifth on the Bantams’ top 10 list. 

Tufts - Sydney Stasz (Hummelstown, Pa.) raced 12 times over the course of the three-day MIT Invitational, helping Tufts earn a second-place finish out of eight teams. The junior’s strongest swim was in the 100 IM where she posted a team and conference record of 57.40. Stasz also swam season-best times in the 100 freestyle (51.98), 200 IM (2:06.12), 100 breaststroke (1:04.17), and posted some great relay splits.  

WesleyanSara Bohacek (Tampa, Fla.) delivered standout performances in her breaststroke events at the Jayden Szkirka Memorial Invitational. The senior posted a season-best 1:07.0 in the 100 breaststroke and broke 30 seconds for the first time on the 200 medley relay with an impressive 29.6 split.
