NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Weekly Release - Nov. 25, 2025

Every Tuesday throughout the swimming & diving season, the NESCAC Performers of the Week will be announced. 

Women’s Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week
Madeleine Dunn – Tufts – Sr. – Austin, Texas
Dunn had a great weekend racing.  Starting on Saturday with a quad meet against Williams, Trinity, and WPI, the senior won the 1000 freestyle (10:22.57), 500 freestyle (5:01.31), and was runner-up in the 400 IM (4:34.57).  Dunn returned on Sunday to secure a victory in the 200 freestyle (1:53.50) against Brandeis University.

NESCAC Honor Roll
Amherst - Donna Zhang (Boston, Mass.) continued an excellent start to the season, winning both boards against Middlebury and the 3-meter competition against Wesleyan. The senior finished second on the 1-meter against Wesleyan, to her own teammate. All four board scores were zone-qualifying marks. 

BatesEmma Burke (New Hartford, N.Y.) had the best dual meet of her career in an exciting meet that came down to the last relay against Wesleyan.  In the opening 400 medley relay, the senior helped lead the team to victory with a 57.6 split on the fly leg.  Later, she posted the second fastest NESCAC time in the 200 butterfly (2:06.7), and Burke closed out the meet posting a 24.8 split in the 200 freestyle relay to help secure the victory.

Bowdoin – Harper Stevenson (Manchester Center, Vt.) turned in several strong swims against MIT. The junior swam 57.9 butterfly leg in the opening 400 medley relay, a time of 1:58.4 in the 200 freestyle, recorded a 59.2 time in the 100 butterfly, which was good for second place, and wrapped up the day with a second-place time of 2:11.29 in the 200 IM. 

Colby – Avery Rappaport (Simsbury, Conn.) helped lead the Mules past Trinity and Hamilton with two big wins on the diving boards, scoring 253.40 points on 1-meter and 268.30 points on the 3-meter, which earned the senior her first NCAA Regional cut of the season.

Hamilton – Paige Wielgus (Pocasset, Mass.) had a strong start last weekend against Trinity and Colby. The sophomore finished first in the 50 backstroke with a pool record time of 27.07. Wielgus placed second in the 100 backstroke (58.84) and posted a time of 27.43 as the lead-off in the medley relay, as well as a 25.27 lead-off on a 200 freestyle relay.  
 
TrinityCharlotte Murphee (Chattanooga, Tenn.) has had an impressive return to swimming after being limited during the summer. On Saturday against Tufts, Williams, and WPI, Murphee won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.08. The junior also played a crucial role in the women's 200 medley relay second-place team, splitting a 29.63 on the breaststroke leg. Murphee muscled through a few swims on Sunday, posting a second place in the 50 breaststroke (31.18) and third place in the 200 medley relay (30.50 split). 

WesleyanMia Dezelic (Derry, N.H.) delivered a dominant weekend, going undefeated in every backstroke event. The junior opened with a 59.3 split on Saturday and then helped secure the Cardinals’ 200 medley relay win against Amherst. Dezelic also demonstrated impressive versatility, posting season-best times in the freestyle events, including a 55.4 in the 100 and a 24.6 in the 50.

Williams - Esme Van Orden (Charlotte, N.C.) put together an outstanding meet, earning four first-place finishes. The rookie started the meet with a strong win in the 200 freestyle (1:54.08) before carrying that momentum into the 100 freestyle, where she touched first in a time of 52.79. Van Orden continued her dominant stretch by winning the 100 butterfly (57.18) and then closed out her meet by anchoring the 200 freestyle relay, splitting 23.77 to secure yet another victory for the Ephs.
