The 2025 NESCAC Field Hockey Championship game will feature No. 4 Wesleyan versus No. 3 Bates in a game played at Tufts’ Ounjian Field on Sunday, November 9 at Noon.
The Cardinals upset top-seeded Tufts, 2-0, to earn Wesleyan’s first trip to the NESCAC Championship game in team history. Bates, last year’s NESCAC Runners-Up, knocked off No. 2 Middlebury, 1-0, in a shootout to return to the NESCAC Final for the second straight year.

No. 4 Wesleyan (14-3) def. No. 1 Tufts (14-3) | Box Score
- Wesleyan’s Leila Feldman scored both goals to propel the Cardinals past the Jumbos and into the NESCAC Championship game for the first time in program history.
- Feldman broke a scoreless game with her 10th goal of the season at 21:01 and three minutes later added her 11th goal of the year to give Wesleyan a quick 2-0 lead.
- Wesleyan kept Tufts off the board and held a 6-3 edge in shots on goal in the game. Audrey Pace made three saves for the shutout, and Wesleyan defended four penalty corners in the fourth quarter.
- Lydia Eastburn was credited with four saves in the Tufts cage.
- Wesleyan improved to 14-3, marking the most wins in a single season, and extended its win streak to a program-best 10 straight games.
No. 3 Bates (14-3) def. No. 2 Middlebury (12-5), 1-0 (2OT, SO W, 2-1) | Box Score
- Bates and Middlebury played through 80 minutes of scoreless field hockey and needed a shootout to see which team would advance to the NESCAC Championship Game.
- The Bates duo of Brooke Moloney-Kolenberg and Sophie O’Sullivan made their shootout attempts and Ava Donohue made three stops to send the Bobcats to the championship game for the second year in a row.
- Donohue finished the game with 11 saves while Izzy Redzic was credited with three saves for Middlebury. The Panthers held a 24-10 edge in shots and a 14-3 advantage in penatly corners.
- The win was the second straight shootout victory for the Bobcats. They defeated No. 6 Hamilton in a shootout in the quarterfinal round.
- Bates’ 14 wins match last year’s win total and are the most in team history in a single season.
Championship Matchup
Bates defeated Wesleyan, 1-0, in Lewiston, Maine on September 20 this season. The Bobcats defeated the Cardinals, 2-1in a shootout, in last year’s quarterfinals, the only time the teams have squared off in the NESCAC Tournament.
