Top Four Seeds Advance to NESCAC Field Hockey Semifinals

For the first time since 2021, the top four seeds in the NESCAC Field Hockey Championship have advanced through to the semifinals. Top-seeded Tufts will host the remaining rounds of the 2025 NESCAC Field Hockey Championship on November 8 and 9 at Ounjian Field.
 
No. 1 Tufts def. No. 8 Amherst, 3-2 | Box Score
Rookie Eleanor Helm scored three minutes into the game to give Tufts a 1-0 lead, and Reagan Malo added another goal in the second quarter to extend the lead to 2-0. Amherst responded with two goals from Genevieve Caruso and Caroline Butler, scored three minutes apart, to tie the game at 2-2. Malo’s second goal of the game and season at the 46:58 mark of the fourth quarter lifted Tufts past Amherst, 3-2. Tufts, the defending NESCAC Champion, advances to the semifinal round for the fourth time in five seasons.

Bowdoin’s Mackay Bommer scored just four minutes into the game to give the Polar Bears a 1-0 lead. Middlebury’s Megan Fuqua equalized the game with her ninth goal of the season early in the second period. Ellie Harrison’s second goal of the season at the 31:22 mark put the Panthers ahead, 2-1. Fei Yang-Sady tied the game again with her third goal of the year at 40:23, and neither team could find the winning goal in regulation. Four minutes into overtime, Claire McMichael’s third goal of the season secured Middlebury’s 3-2 victory over Bowdoin, sending them to the semifinals for the 22nd time in program history.

No. 3 Bates def. No. 6 Hamilton, 1-0 (OT, SO, 2-1) | Box Score
After 80 minutes of scoreless play, Bates and Hamilton faced off in a shootout to determine which team would advance to the NESCAC Semifinals. Bobcats goalkeeper Ava Donohue made two impressive saves, and Brooke Moloney-Kolenberg and Elena Agosti scored to secure Bates's victory. The Bobcats, last year’s NESCAC Runner-Up, move on to the semifinals for the third straight year.

No. 4 Wesleyan def. No. 5 Williams, 2-1 | Box Score
For the first time since 2005, the Wesleyan Cardinals will compete in the NESCAC Field Hockey Semifinals. Meera Patel gave Wesleyan a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the game, and after a scoreless second and third quarter, Georgia Adams extended Wesleyan’s lead to 2-0 at 46:08. Williams cut the deficit in half with a goal by Anna Miller in the final minutes of regulation but was unable to find the equalizer.
