The NESCAC has released its Players of the Week for the week ending on November 24. The conference recognizes student-athletes in each sport each week for their contributions to their teams, based on information provided by the athletic communications offices on each campus. During the winter season, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's ice hockey players of the week will be announced on Mondays. NESCAC men's and women's swimming & diving athletes of the week will be announced on select Tuesdays.
NESCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Dan Civello – Colby – So. – C – South Weymouth, Mass.
Civello averaged 20.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 60 percent from three-point range in three wins for the Mules. The sophomore scored a career-high 35 points in a 93-89 win over Endicott, issuing the Gulls their first loss of the season. The center went 7-for-10 from behind the arc and played all but one minute of the second half as the Mules held off a late Endicott charge. Civello also scored 11 points with seven rebounds in a 59-58 win over Suffolk and chipped in 16 points and 14 rebounds in a victory over Thomas College. The sophomore has reached double-digits in all four games this year as Colby is off to a 4-0 start for the first time since going 8-0 in 2022-23.
NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Kate Olenik – Colby – Jr. – G – Medfield, Mass.
Olenik had identical stat lines of 22 points, five rebounds, and three assists while shooting 72 percent (18-for-25) from the floor in two victories last week. The Mules are off to a 4-0 start for the first time since going 6-0 in 2021-22.
NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Brady Welsch – Williams – Jr. - F – Fond du Lac, Wis.
Welsch scored five goals in a 2-0-0 weekend for the Ephs. The junior scored a hat trick in a 5-3 win over Connecticut College on Friday and added two more markers, including the overtime game-winner on the power play, in a 4-3 triumph against visiting Tufts on Saturday.
NESCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week | Weekly Release
Trinity Walsh – Middlebury - Fy. - F – Highlands Ranch, Colo.
Walsh helped the Panthers post a 3-0-0 week. The rookie netted the game-winner and added two assists in a 6-0 victory over in-state rival Vermont State-Castleton. Walsh continued her stellar performance during a weekend sweep against Wesleyan. The forward tallied two helpers in a 4-1 triumph on Saturday before scoring the game-winner 56 seconds into overtime to lift Middlebury to a 3-2 win on Sunday. Through five contests, Walsh is tied for the team lead with five helpers.
