NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Awards Announced

HADLEY, Mass. - Following the completion of the 2024 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Middlebury several year-end awards were handed out. Additionally, a complete list of the All-NESCAC swimmers and divers is provided below.

NESCAC Swimmer of the Year: Sophia Verkleeren, Williams
Verkleeren was named the NESCAC Swimmer of the Year for the second year in a row and is the first swimmer to earn the honor in back-to-back seasons since former Eph Emma Waddell in 2017 and 2018. Verkleeren, a junior, won both individual medley events, plus the 200 backstroke, and was a part of all five winning relays for the Ephs. Verkleeren is the sixth consecutive swimmer from Williams to win the award and 11th overall.

NESCAC Diver of the Year: Adelaide Herman, Williams
Herman was the NESCAC Champion on the 3-meter board and placed third in the 1-meter competition. The junior is the first Eph since 2016 to be honored with the Diver of the Year award and the fifth Eph overall.

NESCAC Rookie of the Year: Maeve Kelley, Amherst
Kelley was the NESCAC Champion in the 500 freestyle and also earned All-NESCAC honors in the 1000 and 1650 freestyle events. The first year is the second Mammoth to garner the honor, joining Sarah Conklin in 2013.

NESCAC Career High-Point Swimmer Award: Samantha Kilcoyne, Williams
Kilcoyne totaled 364 career points at NESCAC Championships. In 2024, the senior swept the butterfly events and was a part of four of the five winning relay teams for the Ephs. Kilcoyne is the sixth Williams swimmer in seven years to win the award and the 14th Eph overall.
Second Place: Amanda Wager, Williams - 358 points
Third Place: Grace Wenger, Bates - 232 points
Fourth Place: Tatum Zupnik, Bowdoin - 228.5 points
Fifth Place: Jillian Cudney, Tufts - 221 points

NESCAC Career High-Point Diver Award: Eleanor McGrath, Colby
McGrath totaled 156 points in diving events during her career at the NESCAC Championships. In 2024, the senior earned All-NESCAC honors with a second-place finish on the 3-meter board. The senior is the first diver from Colby to win the award.

NESCAC Diving Coach of the Year: Doug Hall, Colby  
In his 10th season as the diving coach for the Mules, Hall wins the Diving Coach of the Year honor for the first time. Hall's honor also marks the first time a Colby coach has garnered the award.

NESCAC Swimming Coaching Staff of the Year: Williams – Steve Kuster, Allie Clark, James Singewald
The 2024 championship marks the eighth time Williams has been recognized with the Swimming Coach/Coaching Staff of the Year honor.
