Williams Wins 20th NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Title

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Williams College captured its 20th NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship. The Ephs won 11 individual events and swept all five relays for a total of 2,002 points for the four-day meet.

The Tufts Jumbos finished as the NESCAC Runners-Up with 1,628.5 points. Middlebury finished third for the first time since 2015 with 1,020 points and was followed by Bates in fourth (945.5) while Colby placed fifth (858.5) marking the Mules' best finish since 2010.

1650 Freestyle
Williams sophomore Lily Codd won her second distance freestyle race by setting a meet record in the 1650 freestyle. Codd touched the wall in a time of 16:38.1. Amherst first-year Maeve Kelley was second (10:05.03) and Chloe Katz of Middlebury placed third (10:09.42).

200 Backstroke
Sophia Verkleeren won her third individual NESCAC title of the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke. Verkleeren was the only swimmer in the field to post a sub-two-minute time (1:58.26). Sophie Cassily of Bates placed second (2:01.40) and Elise Fong of Tufts clocked in at 2:02.89 for third place. All three swimmers achieved NCAA B-cut times.

100 Freestyle
The top three finishers in the 100 freestyle posted NCAA B-cut times. Jillian Cudney of Tufts took home the NESCAC title with a winning time of 50.85. Bates senior Grace Wenger placed second (50.97) and Emma Dimter of Williams was third (51.04).

200 Breaststroke
Amanda Wager won her second NESCAC title in the breaststroke event and the Ephs swept the event. Wager clocked in with a winning time of 2:12.61 and was followed by teammates Charlotte Wishnack (2:13.25) and Carter Roebuck (2:18.22).

200 Butterfly
Williams senior Samantha Kilcoyne wrapped up her 2024 NESCAC Championship with a clean sweep of the butterfly events. Kilcoyne won the 200 distance with a pool-record time of 2:01.69. Fellow Eph Abi Greenberg was second (2:01.10) and Bowdoin newcomer Sydney Lillis placed third (2:04.30).

400 Freestyle Relay
In the final event of the championship, the Williams Ephs won their fifth relay event of the meet to sweep every relay. The team of Zora Vujovic, Sophia Verkleeren, Emma Dimter, and Samantha Kilcoyne combined for a time of 3:23.40, setting a pool record. The Tufts foursome of Quinci Wheeler, Isabella Chambers, Sydney Stasz, and Jillian Cudney placed second (3:24.42) and the Amherst squad of Paige Arnold, Lucy Smith, Megan Lee, and Grace Walker finished third (3:26.03).

2024 NESCAC Individual Award Winners
14492NESCAC Swimmer of the Year: 
Sophia Verkleeren, Williams
Verkleeren was named the NESCAC Swimmer of the Year for the second year in a row. The junior won both individual medley events, plus the 200 backstroke, and was a part of all five winning relays for the Ephs.

NESCAC Diver of the Year: Adelaide Herman, Williams
Herman was the NESCAC Champion on the 3-meter board and placed third in the 1-meter competition.

NESCAC Rookie of the Year: Maeve Kelley, Amherst
Kelley was the NESCAC Champion in the 500 freestyle and also earned All-NESCAC honors in the 1000 and 1650 freestyle events.

NESCAC Career High-Point Swimmer Award:  Samantha Kilcoyne, Williams
Kilcoyne totaled 364 career points at NESCAC Championships. In 2024, the senior swept the butterfly events and was a part of four of the five winning relay teams for the Ephs.
Second Place: Amanda Wager, Williams - 358 points
Third Place: Grace Wenger, Bates - 232 points
Fourth Place: Tatum Zupnik, Bowdoin - 228.5 points
Fifth Place: Jillian Cudney, Tufts - 221 points

NESCAC Career High-Point Diver Award:  Eleanor McGrath, Colby
McGrath totaled 156 points in diving events during her career at the NESCAC Championships. In 2024, the senior earned All-NESCAC honors with a second-place finish on the 3-meter board.

14493NESCAC Diving Coach of the Year: Doug Hall, Colby  
In his 10th season as the diving coach for the Mules, Hall wins the Diving Coach of the Year honor for the first time. Hall's honor also marks the first time a Colby coach has garnered the award.

NESCAC Swimming Coaching Staff of the Year: Williams – Steve Kuster, Allie Clark, James Singewald
The 2024 championship marks the eighth time Williams has been recognized with the Swimming Coach/Coaching Staff of the Year honor.
