Wesleyan's Brumbach Represents NESCAC on United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Team

KANSAS CITY - Wesleyan junior goalkeeper Molly Brumbach is the lone representative of the NESCAC on the 2024 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America squad. Brumbach is the only goalkeeper on the first team.

To be named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American, a student-athlete must meet the following criteria: 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career; start more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team; be nominated by a head coach of current United Soccer Coaches College Service member institution; and be a junior or above in academic standing, and if a transfer student, be in second year at school. All selections were made by a committee that reviews both the academic and athletic accomplishments of the nominees. 

Earlier this month, Brumbach who carries a 3.90 GPA as an American studies major, became just the second Cardinal to earn United Soccer Coaches All-America honors on the pitch and is the first goalkeeper to earn All-American honors for the program.

Brumbach was announced as a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region I honoree, becoming just the second goalkeeper (Sarah Hammond '23) to earn All-Region but the first, First Team selection. She was also selected as the 2024 NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year as well as a First Team All-NESCAC selection. Brumbach is the first Defensive Player of the Year award winner for the program while also becoming the second goalkeeper to earn First Team honors.

The Cardinals went 14-2-3 overall (7-0-3 NESCAC), reaching a national ranking at No.4 and securing top seed in the NESCAC for the first time. As the Cardinals ran a 16-game undefeated streak through the regular season, Brumbach logged 10 shutouts including a scoreless draw with Amherst. Through the regular season, Brumbach and the defense allowed only five goals against on 105 total shots.

Starting all 17 games played, Brumbach recorded a 12-2-3 record, an .825 save percentage while making 60 saves. Brumbach made a combined seven saves against SUNY Brockport and Scranton in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
