NESCAC Women's Soccer Awards Announced

HADLEY, Mass. – Wesleyan junior forward Grace Devanny was selected as the NESCAC Player of the Year as voted by the league's coaches. Devanny is the second Cardinal to garner the honor (Laura Kurash – 2012).

Devanny, the 2019 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team and was a Second Team selection in 2019. Devanny leads the NESCAC with 29 points on 10 goals (third in the NESCAC), including six game-winners, and nine assists (first in the NESCAC). Wesleyan was the No. 2 seed in the NESCAC Championship and advanced to the championship match for the first time in program history. The Cardinals received an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament and will host first and second round games in their NCAA debut.

Amherst sophomore Mika Fisher was voted as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. She is the first goalkeeper to garner the honor and the fourth Amherst player to win the award (Meg Murphy – 2006, Amanda Brisco – 2010, Alexa Juarez – 2018). Fisher, who was also named to the All-NESCAC First Team, helped the Mammoths earn the top seed in the NESCAC Championship and advance to the semifinals. She owns the best save percentage in the conference (.880) and leads the league with eight shutouts to go with a 0.61 goals against average. The Mammoths were an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament and will host first and second round matches.

Wesleyan head coach Eva Meredith is the NESCAC Coach of the Year as voted by her peers. She wins the award for the first time in her 18 years at the helm of the Cardinals. Meredith directed Wesleyan to the highest seed in program history (No. 2) in the NESCAC Championship and a new single-season mark for wins (14). The Cardinals, who will make their NCAA Tournament debut and host first and second round games, reached the championship match for the first time.
