Tufts' Donato Named ABCA Region I Pitcher of the Year; 15 from NESCAC Earn All-Region Accolades

The 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced across all 10 regions. Selections were voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and coordinated by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.

Tufts'  Cole Donato was placed on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 1 First Team and named the Region 1 Pitcher of the Year. The senior was the ace for the Jumbos this season, leading the NESCAC and Tufts with nine wins. Donato ranked third in the NESCAC with a 2.40 ERA in 12 appearances. The Walpole. Mass. native, who was the NESCAC Pitcher of the Year, led all Jumbo starters with a 1.16 WHIP and ranked second on the squad with 61 strikeouts compared to 20 walks. Donato helped Tufts win the NESCAC title for the eighth time and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.. Overall, a total of 15 NESCAC student-athletes garnered All-Region I accolades this season.

Paul Hesse of the University of Mount Union serves as Chair of the ABCA NCAA Division III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee. Committee members also include Brian Casey (U.S. Coast Guard Academy), Pete Egbert (Misericordia University), Dan Gomez (Western New England University), Ray Hedrick (Randolph-Macon College), Luke Johnson (North Park University), Scott Laverty (Chapman University), Yogi Lutz (Alvernia University), Nick Pontari (SUNY Brockport), and Kevin Tomasiewicz (University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh).

The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-America teams will be announced on the evening of Thursday, May 28, following the Opening Ceremony at the 2026 NCAA Division III World Series in Eastlake, Ohio. Only First Team All-Region selections are eligible for All-America honors.

ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 17, while the 2026 ABCA NCAA Division III Region All-Defensive teams will be released on Thursday, June 18.

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now spans nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II, and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first introduced in 2007.
