MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The top four seeds earned quarterfinal wins to advance in the NESCAC Women’s Tennis Championship for the third straight season.
Semifinal matches are set for 11 a.m. at Middlebury College. The top-seeded Wesleyan Cardinals face No. 4 Amherst in one semifinal while No. 2 Bowdoin meets No. 3 Middlebury in the other.

No. 1 Wesleyan def. No. 8 Colby, 4-0
Wesleyan improved to 16-2 with a 4-0 sweep of Colby. The Cardinals earned the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 and a 7-6 (5) win on the No. 3 court. Anges Guggenheim provided the clinching point with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles. Mariia Kornilova added a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 2 and Lucinda Gatsiounis registered a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 to contribute to the Cardinal victory. Wesleyan moves into the semifinal round for the seventh year in a row.
No. 2 Bowdoin def. No. 7 Hamilton, 4-0
Bowdoin blanked Hamilton, 4-0, to improve to 12-6 and advance to the semifinals for the second straight year. A 6-2 win by Zoe Sun/Bella Hartung at No. 1 and a 6-1 triumph from Cara Hung/Suzanne Pogorelec at No. 2 gave Bowdoin a 1-0 lead. Hartung swept the No. 3 singles court (6-0, 6-0) and the Polar Bears closed out the victory with wins from Sun (6-4, 6-0) at No. 4 and a clinching point at No. 2 from Pogorelec (6-2, 6-3).
No. 3 Middlebury def. No. 6 Williams, 4-0
Defending NESCAC Champion Middlebury reached its 16th consecutive NESCAC Semifinal with a 4-0 win over Williams. The Panthers grabbed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Elsei Van Wieren logged the second point with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Diya Pachamuthu secured a straight-set 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5 and Charlotte McCann capped the scoring with a 6-0. 6-2 win at No. 6.
No. 4 Amherst def. No. 5 Tufts, 4-1
Amherst defeated Tufts, 4-1, to advance to the NESCAC Semifinals for the sixth straight tournament. The Mammoths claimed victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead. Tina She eased to a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 and Greta Stechschulte added a straight-set victory at No. 4. Cody Huang sealed the win with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at No. 3 singles.
