Tufts cruised to a 14-1 win over Mitchell while Trinity suffered a one-run loss on the opening day of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, May 16.

Mitchell struck first, but Tufts plated nine runs in the bottom of the first inning and rolled to a 14-1 win over the Mariners in the opening game of the Medford Regional. Jack Kamin's RBI double sparked the nine-run rally. Malcolm Whitfield added a two-run homer in the sixth to extend the margin to 12-1 before the final margin of 14-1. Kamin finished with a 3-for-5 effort with three RBI and two runs scored. Kamin was one of six Jumbos to record multiple hits in the game. Emmet Christian picked up the win, improving to 8-1, with an eight-inning effort and four strikeouts. The Jumbos play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a winner's bracket game on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Stags defeated Kean, 8-6, on Friday.
Randolph Macon def. Trinity, 6-5 | Box Score
In the Bantams' opening game at the regional hosted by Russell Sage in Schenectady, N.Y., Randolph-Macon posted a 6-5 win. The Yellow Jackets took a 2-0 lead after two innings, but Trinity tied the score at 2-2 in the top of the third. The Yellow Jackets quickly regained the lead in the bottom half of the frame and took a two-run lead on a solo home run in the fourth inning. Trinity retook the lead, 5-4, in the fifth, plating three runs, highlighted by Timothy Domizio's two-RBI single. Zach Wernoski's two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh proved to be the game-winner for Randolph-Macon. Tyler Bernstein led Trinity with a 2-for-5 effort and two runs scored. Trinity will face host Russell Sage in an elimination game on Saturday after the Gators dropped a 9-2 decision to Penn St. Harrisburg.
