HADLEY, Mass. - The NESCAC announced the 2026 Men's Rowing Awards. The 10-member squads are comprised of individuals from the league's eight teams and are based on each team's finish at the NESCAC Championship held on May 10 at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
Wesleyan, the NESCAC Champion, placed four individuals on the All-NESCAC First Team. Nelson Bellows, Asher Israel (coxswain), Gus Shuman, and Eli Smirin all received recognition.
Trinity, the NESCAC Runners-Up, was represented by James McGarry, Wyatt Mills, and Jackson Moore, while Quinn Carroll and Jack Wagner of Williams and Tufts' Peter Conard rounded out the First Team.
Wesleyan head coach Phil Carney was voted as the NESCAC Men's Rowing Coach of the Year by his peers. Carney, who is in his 39th season directing the Cardinals, garners the honor for the third time, also winning the award in 2016 and 2024. Carney led Wesleyan to its second NESCAC Men's Rowing Championship in three years. The Cardinals earned a berth to the IRA Division III National Championship set for May 29-30 at Lake Natoma in Gold River, California.
