NESCAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week
Ryan Kam – Trinity – So. – Newton Center, Mass.
Kam led the Bantams to a pair of wins over Vassar and Wesleyan. The sophomore posted first-place finishes in every event he swam and recorded three lifetime bests. Against Vassar, Kam helped the Bantams win the 200 medley relay, splitting a lifetime best of 25.40 on the backstroke leg. Kam also won the 200 backstroke (1:58.68) and 200 butterfly (2:00.23) with lifetime best times. Against Wesleyan, Kam won the 400 IM (4:17.06) and the 50 butterfly with a lifetime best time of 24.92.
NESCAC Honor Roll
Bates –
Tim Johnson (Brewster, Mass.) had a great meet against Tufts, sweeping the backstroke events and leading the men's 400 medley relay to a Tufts pool record with a lead-off leg of 50.7. In the 50 backstroke, the junior won with a season-best time of 23.85, and followed up with another top time of 1:51.5 in the 200 backstroke.
Bowdoin – Against the University of Maine,
Owen Weller (Madison, N.J.) swam a season best in the 200 backstroke, going 1:59.3, and had strong swims in the 50 and 100 backstroke events.
Hamilton –
Will Roth (Gates Mill, Ohio) paced the Continentals on Saturday with two first-place finishes, both in the backstroke events. In the 100 backstroke, the sophomore placed first with a time of 52.80 and posted a winning time of 1:56.52 in the 200 backstroke. Rother led off Hamilton's “B” 200 medley relay in 24.82.
Tufts – In the first meet of 2026,
Jay Wilkinson (Somers, N.Y.) won the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with season-best and NCAA-qualifying scores of 332.47 (1M) and 305.62 (3M) points.
Wesleyan – Coming off a demanding training trip and racing just 48 hours later,
Tomas Gonzalez (Brookings, S.D.) stepped up in a big way. The junior helped the 400 medley relay clinch a win against Trinity with a 47.5 split. Gonzalez also posted a season-best time in the 200 butterfly, touching up in 1:58. Two days later, Gonzalez recorded a personal best time of 1:44.0 in the 200 freestyle against a highly competitive DII University of Bridgeport field, earning a second-place finish.
Williams -
Mike Ma (Manhasset, N.Y.) delivered an impressive showing in the distance events, recording a time of 16:35.44 in the 1650 freestyle and demonstrating strong endurance and consistency throughout the race. The senior carried that momentum into the 500 freestyle later in the meet, turning in a quality swim of 4:46.26 to round out a well-balanced performance.
