Three NESCAC Men's Swimmers Earn CSC Academic All-America Honors

Three NESCAC men's swimmers were selected to the 2026 CSC Academic All-America Team, announced by College Sports Communicators. The Bates duo of Marrich Somridhivej and Benjamin Wolking, along with Tufts' Jack Nussbaum, were named to the first, second, and third teams.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must compete in 75 percent of competitions or finish top eight at a conference meet or participate in a national championship, own at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a sophomore or higher in academic standing.

Somridhivej, a first-team selection, owns a 3.93 grade-point average as a biology major. A two-time Academic All-District® selection, Marrich is also a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American and two-time NESCAC All-Academic pick. At the NCAA DIII Championship last month, the senior won the 100-yard breaststroke title and contributed to the national record-breaking 400-yard medley.  Somridhivej finishes his Bates career as a two-time national champion and a 10-time All-American.

Nussbbaum qualified nationally and swam in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships. He placed 23rd in the 200 breaststroke and 30th in the 100 breaststroke. An All-NESCAC honoree with a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke at the NESCAC Championships, he established a new school record in the event with a time of 1:58.97 at the conference meet. He was also part of the 400 medley relay, which finished fourth at the NESCAC meet.

For his career, Nusbaum is a two-time national qualifier who also competed in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, and 200 individual medley at the 2024 NCAA Championships. An All-NESCAC honoree in 2024 for his third-place finish in the 200 breast, he originally broke the school record with his 1:59.72 mark that year. He was also seventh in the 100 breast at the 2024 NESCAC's.

Nussbaum holds a 3.90 grade point average as a quantitative economics major at Tufts. He is a two-time NESCAC All-Academic Team member for carrying a grade point average of 3.50 or higher, has been on the Dean's List for all five of his semesters so far, and has also earned a minor in math.

Wolking, a third-team selection, holds a perfect 4.00 GPA as a biomedical engineering major. The junior was part of the NESCAC title-winning 200-yard freestyle relay with a new school, conference, meet, and pool record time of 1:19.47. The quartet took fifth-place nationally in the event, the best 200-yard freestyle relay finish for Bates at the NCAA Championships in program history.
