Amherst junior Ben Davis and Colby senior Ren Sanze were recognized on the 2024-25 CSC Men's Track & Field / Cross Country Academic All-America Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic achievements.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a significant contributor to the team with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution. A limit of five nominations per team is set. In Track & Field / Cross Country, nominees must be ranked among the Top 50 in the region in at least one event (cross country, indoor or outdoor).
A middle distance runner, Davis recently completed his junior year with a 3.98 GPA as a neuroscience major. Davis earned First Team All-America honors in two events at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships this winter, finishing fifth in the 800 meters and fourth with Amherst's distance medley relay team. He also won the 600 meters and posted two other top-eight finishes at the New England Division III Indoor Championships to help the Mammoths win the team title. Davis was part of the 4x400m relay team that set an Amherst school record during the outdoor season at the Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza and was an All-Region selection in four events this year.
Zanze was named a Second Team All-American at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this past winter for his finish in the 400-meters. He is the first Indoor Men's Track & Field All-American for Colby since Dom Kone '13 achieved the feat in 2012. At the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, Zanze earned All-American Second Team status once again as part of Colby's 4x400 relay team. Academically, Zanze graduated wiht a 3.98 GPA while majoring in Economics.
The NESCAC boasts 421 CSC Academic All-Americans in conference history and 41 student-athletes were named CSC Academic All-Americans in the 2024-25 season.
