NESCAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week - March 31, 2026

Every Tuesday during the outdoor track & field season leading up to the NESCAC Championships, the conference will announce its men’s and women’s athletes of the week.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Benjamin Hughes – Middlebury – Jr. – San Marino, Calif.
At the Mangrum Invitational hosted by Cal State San Marcos, Hughes finished fourth in the 1500 meters. His time of 3:49.64 currently ranks fifth in Division III.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Gavin Schmidt – Amherst – So. – Swarthmore, Pa.
At the UMass Flagship Opener, Schmidt etched his name in the Amherst record books. The sophomore posted a throw of 51.41 meters (168-8) to win the discus event and established a new school record. Schmidt’s toss ranks third in Division III.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Bella King-Harvey – Williams – Jr. – North Hollywood, Calif.
At the Emory Thrills In The Hills meet in Atlanta, Georgia, King-Harvey finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 55.64, which ranks third in Division III. King-Harvey also contributed to the 4x400 relay that set a new school record (3:44.26).
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Dana Schwartz – Hamilton – Sr. – Cape Elizabeth, Maine
Schwartz finished second in the javelin at the 30th Annual Monmouth University Season Opener meet. The senior’s throw of 43.84m (143-10) is the top mark in the NESCAC and ranks second among Division III throwers
