HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College senior men's rower Jack Carr has been named the inaugural recipient of the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) 2025 Division III "The Oarsman" award.
Announced in early May, The Oarsman recognizes a student-athlete whose contributions to their program are not only impressive but often unprecedented. While only one crew may win gold, this award honors the individual who elevates their team through tireless dedication, transformative impact, and uncompromising excellence. It celebrates those rare athletes who achieve greatness not only through personal success but also through a lasting commitment to their team, their sport, and the values that define true champions.
To be eligible for "The Oarsman", recipients must be academically qualified rowers from an IRCA member school and in their third or fourth year of collegiate competition.
"Jack is an outstanding scholar who upheld the highest academic standards, consistently maintaining one of the top GPAs in the program," said Head Men's Rowing Coach Kevin MacDermott. "He helped elevate Trinity College to the pinnacle of Division III men's rowing in 2025 and has laid a foundation of hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment that will continue to propel the program forward for years to come."
Carr helped the Bantams capture the 2025 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Division III National Championship and the program's first NESCAC Men's Rowing title since 2008.
