NESCAC Player of the Week
Nathan Samii - Middlebury – Sr. – IF – Charlotte, N.C.
Samii excelled at the plate for the Panthers in their three-game NESCAC West series sweep of Williams. The senior went 7-for-15 with six of those hits going for extra bases. Samii also led the Panthers in runs scored (7) and total bases (15) and drove in six runs and had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage over the series, tallying two putouts and 10 assists. Samii also surpassed the 100 career hit mark.
NESCAC Pitcher of the Week
TJ Takis – Hamilton – Jr. – P – McLean, Va.
With Hamilton trailing, 4-3, heading into the top of the fourth inning, Takis pitched the last four innings and picked up the win in a 5-4 victory against SUNY Cobleskill. The win was the first for Takis since 2023. The junior did not allow any hits or runs and struck out a career-high seven batters in his relief effort.

Amherst – In four games last week,
Jack Sampedro (Miami, Fla.) batted .538 with a .545 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging percentage, driving in 11 runs in four games and scoring six times. In addition, the senior had two doubles and stole a base in his only attempt. Sampedro singled and scored the game-winning run in an 11-10, 10-inning win over Wesleyan that completed a three-game sweep and earned the Mammoths the 2025 Little Three title. From the mound, Sampedro went 1-0 with a save over four innings in which he did not allow a hit or walk a batter while striking out six …
EJ Nevills (Westwood, Mass.) threw the first six innings of a seven-inning win over Wesleyan, allowing just two hits and two runs while walking five and striking out four. The sophomore leads the conference in ERA (2.00) and opponent batting average against (.202).
Bates –
Ben Genser (Newton, Mass.) saw his batting average jump more than 30 points to a team-leading .329 after he went 6-for-11 in a weekend three-game sweep of Bard. The senior drove in three runs, scored three runs, smacked a double, drew a walk, and stole two bases for Bates. He did all this while playing errorless defense at third base as the Bobcats geared up for their return to NESCAC play this weekend …
John Tully (Framingham, Mass.) won his fourth straight start on Friday, going seven innings and only allowing one run in a 6-3 win over Bard. The junior scattered three hits and struck out five batters in the contest. It's the fewest runs and hits Tully has allowed in a game this season.
Bowdoin – Junior starting pitcher
Alex Saavedra (Tiburon, Calif.) tossed five innings, allowing one earned run, earning the victory in a 3-1 Polar Bear win Saturday over Colby.
Colby –
Tony Silva (Cranford, N.J.) had a hit in all four NESCAC games this week, leading Colby to a 3-1 week and a series win against Bowdoin. The junior went 6-for-13 at the plate, reaching base nine times and posting a .563 on-base percentage. Silva has 11 hits in eight NESCAC games this season … Rookie
Matt Higgins (Norwell, Mass.) helped the Mules to a 3-1 NESCAC week, closing the door Monday against Bates and Saturday against Bowdoin, to earn his fifth and sixth saves of the season. Monday's performance secured a 2-0 shutout for the Mules, and Saturday's save muted a Polar Bear comeback attempt to give Colby the series win in the rubber match.
Hamilton –
Michael Tallarida (Philadelphia, Pa.) went 4-for-8 with two home runs, scored six runs, drove in six, drew three walks, and was hit by a pitch in three wins against SUNY Cobleskill. Tallarida started the weekend by hitting a two-run homer and scoring a season-high three runs in a 20-7 victory against the Fighting Tigers. The junior drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, singled and scored twice as the Continentals triumphed 13-8 in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Tallarida saved his best for last in a 5-4 win in the nightcap with a two-run blast in the first inning and a walk-off single that drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. The three RBI tied a season best for Tallarida, who also handled 22 chances at first base without an error …
Middlebury –
Dylan Knightly (Dedham, Mass.) came on in relief in the 10th inning of the Panthers' opening game of the series against Williams. Despite having the first two runners reach safely, Knightly picked off the game-winning run and forced a strikeout to keep the Ephs off the board. After the Panthers tallied the go-ahead run in the 11th, Knightly struck out the side for his first victory of the season.
Trinity – Newcomer
Aidan Stevenson (Coto de Caza, Calif.) paced the Trinity offense, going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, eight runs batted in, and three runs scored in a 19-7 win over Tufts. Stevenson’s eight RBI matched Trinity’s single-game record, set by Kent Graham against Babson on March 19, 2008 … Junior
Joe Capano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) helped lead the Bantams post a 19-7 win over Tufts, tossing a career-high eight innings, allowing three earned runs with six strikeouts.
Tufts –
Henry Fleckner (Weston, Mass.) led the Jumbos in their series with Trinity last weekend. The senior went 2-for-4 with a double in the opening loss on Friday, then added another base hit in the second game of the series. Game 3 saw Fleckner's best game of the season, as he went 4-for-6 with a double, two triples, and a home run. The home run was clutch, plating three runs to bring Tufts within one in the ninth …
Derek Desmarais (Washington, D.C.) made three appearances from the bullpen last week. In his first appearance, the rookie recorded a one-two-three inning against Babson. After being knocked around for a few hits in his second appearance in Game 1 versus Trinity Desmarais reset and pitched a strong two innings to secure the win in the series finale.
Williams –
Ryan Nakajima (Bothell, Wash.) went 9-of-21 batting during five games this past week for the Ephs. The sophomore recorded at least one hit in all five games, had three multi-hit efforts, and one three-hit performance. Nakajima went 3-for-4 in the batter's box, with two RBIs, one double, and one run, in Game 3 of the series against Middlebury … Senior
JH Vaughan (Indian Trail, N.C.) earned the win on the mound in a 10-5 win at Skidmore Tuesday, as he pitched two innings of relief in the seventh and eighth, giving up no runs, no walks, one hit, and struck out three.
