NESCAC Player of the Week
Jack Sampedro – Amherst – Sr. – UT – Miami Beach, Fla.
Sampedro batted .455 with a .571 on-base percentage and a .455 slugging percentage to help Amherst win the NESCAC series versus Williams. The senior also had four RBI and two runs scored. Sampedro’s week was highlighted by a bottom-of-the-ninth, two-out, walk-off single in Game 1 against Williams to give the Mammoths a 2-1 win. Sampedro also pitched the top of the ninth to finish off a combined no-hitter by the Mammoths’ pitching staff.
NESCAC Pitcher of the Week
Nick Fassert – Amherst – Fy. – P – Katonah, N.Y.
Fassert tossed eight no-hit innings and combined with Jack Sampedro for a no-hitter in a 2-1 walk-off victory over Williams in the opening game of the NESCAC series. In his longest outing of the year, the rookie issued just two walks and struck out five to match his season high.

Bates –
Keagan Ryan (Salem, N.H.) reached base safely in every game last week as Bates went 3-0. The sophomore homered for the second time this season against Saint Joseph's (ME), going 1-for-3 with three runs scored, a walk, two stolen bases, and a hit by pitch. Ryan reached base twice and stole another bag in a win over Dean and capped off the week by going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk, and a hit by a pitch against Colby. The center fielder also doubled off a runner at first base after catching a line drive and making a strong throw to first for the double play. Ryan is tied for the team lead in on-base percentage at an even .400 on the season … Junior
John Tully (Framingham, Mass.) threw a complete game on Friday to lead the Bobcats to a 5-2 win at Colby. Tully’s effort marked the first nine-inning complete game thrown by a Bates baseball pitcher in a NESCAC contest since Nolan Collins tossed one in 2019. Tully (3-1) held the Mules to two runs on seven hits, striking out three batters along the way. He has won all three of his NESCAC starts this season, beating Tufts, Bowdoin, and Colby.
Bowdoin –
Jason Bogdanos (New York, N.Y.) tossed a complete game shutout in an 8-0 win over Tufts. The senior struck out three batters and held Tufts scoreless for just the second time this season. Bogdanos improved to 4-2 on the season with a 2.37 ERA. The win pushed the Polar Bears (20-5) to the 20-win plateau for the first time since 2016.
Colby –
Corey Aubuchon (Westminster, Mass.) had a double and a home run, scored a run, and recorded an RBI in a 5-4 win over Southern Maine. The newcomer led off the fourth with his first career round-tripper, which proved to be the eventual game-winning run. The first-year is batting .355 through the first 22 games of the season …
Matt Higgins (Norwell, Mass.) earned the save Wednesday in a 5-4 win over Southern Maine. The first-year closed out the game with a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his fourth save of the year.
Hamilton –
Alfonso Rada (Ozone Park, N.Y.) doubled, homered, and scored both runs in a 3-2 setback at Middlebury. The solo shot was the second homer of Rada's career. The sophomore singled, walked, and scored a run in an 8-7 loss to the Panthers …
Aden Soroca (New York, N.Y.) got the win as the sophomore pitched five innings, allowed two unearned runs, and fanned two in a 3-2 victory in seven innings at Middlebury. It was the first win against a NESCAC opponent for Soroca.
Middlebury – Sophomore
Stefano Yozzo (New York, N.Y.) came on in relief in the rubber match against Hamilton. With runners on first and second with two outs in the top of the seventh, the Panther forced a groundout to keep the game tied 2-2. Yozzo stayed in the contest for the eighth and ninth innings, shutting down the Continental offense with three strikeouts to propel Middlebury to a 3-2 win and his first career victory on the mound.
Trinity – Junior
William Sawyer (Easthampton, Mass.) helped power the Bantams to a three-game sweep at Saint Lawrence University, batting .300 with two home runs, four runs batted in and two runs scored. In the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader, Sawyer blasted a two-run home run to help Trinity to the 9-1 win, and then launched another two-run shot, along with a single, in the 3-1 victory in the nightcap …
Drew McGowan (Burlington, Mass.) delivered on of the top pitching performances of the season for the Bantams. The sophomore recorded a career-high eight strikeouts in seven innings of work while surrendering one unearned run on two hits in a 3-1 win to complete a three-game road sweep at Saint Lawrence.
Tufts – Sophomore
Max Pavlik (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) led the Jumbos last week. The sophomore drove in the only two runs Tufts would score against the No. 6 Endicott Gulls. He kicked off the scoring with an RBI single and used some heads-up baserunning to advance to second base on the throw home. When the Gulls took a 2-1 lead soon after, Pavilk stepped up again and hit a sacrifice fly to left to score the tying run before the Jumbos ultimately fell to the Gulls. A two-rbi single in the bottom of the third versus Bowdoin helped crack the game open en route to a series-evening win against the Polar Bears … Senior
Connor Podeszwa (Waterford, Conn.) was nearly untouchable on Friday, pitching in the 6-2 win against Bowdoin in the nine-inning Game 2 of the doubleheader. The senior struck threw 97 pitches over the eight-inning outing and struck out 14 straight Polar Bears in 7.1 innings of hitless baseball. Podeszwa’s no-hit bid was broken up in the eighth, and a pair of runs spoiled the shutout.
Wesleyan –
James Marsden (Ivoryton, Conn.) produced one of the most impressive offensive displays in team history last week, going 4-for-5 with 12 RBI, including three triples and one home run, while scoring four runs in a 24-6 home win over Emerson. The 12 RBI are believed to be a single-game team record while he produced all those numbers while batting from the No. 9 position in the order. Marsden also went 2-for-4 on Friday with one stolen base against Albertus Magnus on Friday … Rookie
Colin Laurzenheiser (Burleston, Texas) threw 4.2 innings allowing just two hits and one unearned run with no walks and six strikeouts, picking up his first career win against Emerson at home on Thursday.
Williams – Senior
James O'Connor (West Newton, Mass.) went 3-of-5 batting, with two RBI, two runs, one home run, one triple, and one double, in Game 2 of a doubleheader against Amherst on Sunday …
Owen McHugh (Milton, Mass.) earned the six-inning victory in the middle game of the series against Amherst and improved to 3-0 on the season. The sophomore allowed one run in a 6-3 victory on Sunday.
