Women’s Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week
Eliza Marco – Colby – So. – Bath, Maine
Marco notched four victories to power Colby to a season-opening victory over Amherst. The sophomore won the 50 freestyle (23.77) and the 100 freestyle (52.24) races with times that lead the NESCAC. Marco also anchored the winning 200 medley relay (1:45.98) in 23.19 and ended the day splitting a 23.08 on the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:37.20). Both relay times are tops in the conference.
NESCAC Wekely Honor Roll
Amherst -
Donna Zhang (Boston, Mass.) swept the diving events to open her senior campaign in a dual meet against Colby. Both her 1-meter and 3-meter scores were Regional Zone qualifiers, setting a high bar for the rest of the season.
Bates –
Sarah Palmer (Brunswick, Maine) had a fantastic opening weekend helping to win the 200 medley relay while splitting 28.7, the junior won the 100 breast in a time of 1:03.94, achieving an NCAA B-Cut.
Trinity –
Mikayla Tyler (Ellicott City, Md.) had a great collegiate debut and was the top individual point scorer for the Bantams in a two-point win over Skidmore. Tyler placed first in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.04) as the lead of a sweep in the event for Trinity. The rookie also placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.15) and 200 IM (2:22.32). Tyler also played a crucial role in securing third for Trinity’s B 200 medley relay in the breaststroke leg (32.70).
Wesleyan –
Ella Hall (Newtown, Conn.) dove to new heights in the opening weekend of competition, establishing herself as one of the conference’s early standouts. The sophomore led the Cardinals with exceptional performances on both boards, earning first place on the 1-meter board against Springfield College and securing second place on the 1-meter board against Williams. Hall continued her momentum on the 3-meter, scoring over 220 points to earn another impressive second-place finish.
Williams -
Irene Yang (Sherborn, Mass.) had a strong outing for the Ephs, finishing the day with two individual victories and contributing to a relay win. Yang opened the meet by leading off the first-place 200 medley relay with a 26.90 backstroke split. The senior continued her success in the 100 backstroke, taking the win in a time of 57.63. Yang followed up with a strong second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.19) and capped off the day by recording an impressive 2:09.41 in the 200 IM.
