Four NESCAC Teams Advance in NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament

Four of the seven NESCAC teams selected to the 2025 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship remain alive in the tournament after earning second-round victories. Bowdoin, Conn. College, Tufts, and Williams all earned wins to reach the third round. The third-round matches will be played on November 22 and 23 with locations to be announced on Monday, November 17.

Bowdoin def. UMass Boston, 3-2 | Box Score
Bowdoin’s Tyler Huck scored twice to lead the Polar Bears to a 3-2 win over visiting UMass Boston at Pickard Field. The Beacons benefited from a Bowdoin own goal in the 17th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Polar Bears quickly erased the deficit when Huck converted a penalty kick just over a minute later to level the match. Liam Myers pushed Bowdoin’s lead to 2-0 in the 23rd minute. Bowdoin took the 2-1 lead into the break. Huck netted his second goal of the game in the 55th minute to give Bowdoin a two-goal lead, 3-1, with 35 minutes left in the match. UMass Boston cut the lead to one with a goal in the 86th minute, but could not force extra time. Bowdoin outshot the Beacons 18-7. Mario Hajhdi made three saves for UMass Boston, while Alex Ainsworth had two stops for Bowdoin. The Polar Bears advance to the sectionals for the first time since 2022.

Conn. College def. Babson, 2-1 | Box Score
Marco Perugini’s two-goal performance propelled Conn. College past Babson, 2-1, and into the sectional round for the second straight year. Perugini’s fifth marker of the year gave the Camels a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Babson leveled the match in the 28th minute and the game remained tied at the half, 1-1. In the 81st minute, Conn. College was awarded a penalty kick. Perugini stepped up to the spot and converted the attempt to push the Camels in front, 2-1. Conn. College held on the rest of the way to pick their 12th victory of the season. Conn. College outshot Babson 20-9 in the match. JB Montauge made seven saves for the Beavers while TJ Krongard was credited with three stops for Conn. College.

Tufts def. Brandeis, 1-0 (2OT) | Box Score
In the opening minute of the second overtime period, Henry Brown put back a rebound off James Gunn’s shot to propel the Tufts Jumbos into the sectionals with a 1-0 double-overtime win at Brandeis. Tyler Correnti made eight saves for Brandeis as Tufts outshot the Judges 24-7 and had an 8-2 lead in corner kicks. Nikola Antick made two stops for the Jumbos to earn the shutout victory. Tufts advances to the sectionals for the second time in three seasons.

Williams def. Scranton, 2-1 | Box Score
The Williams College Ephs handed Scranton its first loss of the season with a 2-1 victory in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. All three goals were scored in the opening 24 minutes of action. The Royals converted a cross at the 16:50 mark, but Williams tied the game up 44 seconds later on a header from Andrew Coelho. Six minutes later, Alex Bethencourt scored his fourth goal of the weekend to push the Ephs in front, 2-1. Williams held the lead the rest of the way. Scranton outshot Williams, 17-9, but Alex Anglada made four saves to help the Ephs earn the win.

Wheaton def. Middlebury, 1-0 | Box Score
Aidan Doyle’s 11th goal of the year in the 21st minute was all Wheaton needed to pull out a 1-0 victory over visiting Middlebury in an NCAA Second Round match. The Panthers outshot the Lyons, 28-10, but Nick Phinney made 10 saves for Wheaton to pick up the clean sheet victory. Middlebury closes out the season with a 10-6-2 record.

Rowan def. Wesleyan, 2-0 | Box Score
Rowan scored two goals sandwiched around halftime to earn a 2-0 victory at Wesleyan in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Carill Asanji scored in the 44th minute and teammate Johnny Toriano pushed the Profs lead to 2-0 with his 19th goal of the year in the opening minutes of the second stanza. Wesleyan held a 20-10 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks, but could not find the back of the net. Travis Holiday made six saves for Rowan to earn the shutout, while Mathis Blanc was credited with two stops for the Cardinals. Wesleyan finishes the year with a 10-5-4 mark.
