NESCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week
MK Marshall - Colby - Jr. - GK - Pomfret, Conn.
Marshall collected her third shutout of the season matching a season-high with six saves in Colby's 1-0 win over Conn. College on Saturday. In the final 25 seconds, the goalkeeper successfully defended two corner kicks, collecting a save on the first attempt and punching the second service out of bounds. The result was Marshall’s second 1-0 shutout of the season against a NESCAC opponent.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Mika Fisher (Englewood, Colo.) made five saves in a scoreless tie versus Middlebury on Saturday. It was the senior’s fifth shutout of the season. Fisher has not allowed a goal and has totaled 16 saves this season.
Bates – Senior
Abby Alter (Washington, D.C.) scored twice in a 5-0 win against the University of New England on Tuesday. Despite a 1-0 loss on Saturday to Wesleyan, Bates stands at 3-1-1 and is off to its best start since 2017.
Bowdoin - Junior
Rylie McLaren (Carlsbad, Calif.) scored with just 36 seconds remaining on Friday evening to lift the Polar Bears to a 1-1 tie against Babson.
Connecticut College - Senior goalkeeper
Ella Kahrl (Wellesley, Mass.) continued her run in goal for Conn. College, playing all 90 minutes in the Camels' only game for the week. Kahrl recorded five saves against Colby on Saturday, raising her season save percentage to .692 and lowering her goals against average to 1.50.
Hamilton -
Olivia Zubarik (Williston, Vt.) finished with five points in a 2-0-1 week for the Continentals. Zubarik's successful penalty kick in the 59th minute was the equalizer in Hamilton's 2-2 tie with Tufts. The senior had an assist on the Continentals' first goal in the fifth minute and added the second goal in the 11th minute of their 8-0 win at SUNY Morrisville.
Middlebury – Senior
Sydney Poppinga (New York, N.Y.) tied her career-best with nine saves against Amherst, helping the Panthers tie the Mammoths 0-0 and snap their four-game win streak while keeping Middlebury unbeaten (3-0-3). It was Poppinga’s second straight contest where she recorded nine stops and was her ninth career shutout.
Trinity – Junior
Elena Lindonen (Boxford, Mass.) helped lead the Bantams to their first victory of the season with a pair of goals in a 4-1 win over SUNY-Oneonta.
Tufts – In Tufts’ only game of the week
Emily Nicholas (Avon, Conn.) scored twice in the Jumbos’ 2-2 draw versus Hamilton on Saturday. Nicholas gave the Jumbos an early 1-0 lead, scoring in the fourth minute of action. The sophomore struck again 20 minutes later, collecting a misplayed clearance for her second marker of the day to give the Jumbos a 2-1 lead.
Wesleyan -
Katie O'Connell (North Kingstown, R.I.) was involved in both Cardinal goals in Sunday's 2-2 draw versus Middlebury. Wesleyan erased 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to secure a result against the undefeated Panthers. O'Connell opened with an assist as she headed a free kick back towards the center of the goal for sophomore
Maria Utz (Atlanta, Ga.) to hammer home the equalizer to make it 1-1 in the 23rd minute. The senior followed with the game-tying goal in the 47th minute, touching the ball onto her left foot and burying a shot just inside the left post for her second goal of the season.
Williams – Senior
Tori Huang (Arlington, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal and her second goal of the season in the 19th minute in a 2-0 NESCAC win at Trinity on Saturday. Her shot from beyond the box on the right attacking side went over the goalkeeper's head and curved into the top-right corner of the net.
