NESCAC Player of the Week
James Marsden – Wesleyan – So. – OF/P – Ivoryton, Conn.
Marsden put together a five-game hit streak with a home run while he led all of NCAA baseball (across all three divisions) in slugging percentage through six games this season. For the week, Marsden went 12-for-27 (.444) with five homers, three triples, and one double while he added 18 RBI, nine runs scored, and two stolen bases. He also entered twice in relief, throwing 1.2 combined innings with one unearned run allowed. After not hitting a home run during his entire rookie season, Marsden had more home runs last week than any Cardinal recorded last season. The sophomore recorded four straight multi-hit games including an impressive performance in a win over Hamline wherein he went 3-for-5 with one home run, two triples, four RBI, and two runs scored.

NESCAC Pitcher of the Week
Nicholas Thompson – Colby – Sr. – P – Scarborough, Maine
Thompson threw Colby's first no-hitter since before 1980 on Saturday when he hurled 7.0 innings against the Brandeis Judges without surrendering a hit.  Through six innings the senior faced one over the minimum, closing the door on a 9-0 shutout in the seventh with a strikeout, a fly to center, and a roll-over to first base to end the game. The southpaw retired 10 batters by groundout, five by strikeout, and five by flyout, with the only walk issued erased by a caught stealing.  
 
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
AmherstJack Dove (Norwalk, Conn.) batted .667 in a 1-1 week for the Mammoths with a slugging pct. of 1.222. In a 19-6 win over WPI, Dove went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and two RBI. In a 12-8 loss to Cobleskill, Dove batted 3-for-5 with a double, home run, scored one run, and drove in two runs. The senior scored four runs and knocked in four runs in the two games combined. Jack Sampedro (Miami, Fla.) pitched six innings and allowed one earned run in a 1-1 week for the Mammoths. The senior started against WPI and went four innings to earn the victory, allowing just one run on one hit while issuing two walks and fanning two batters. Sampedro threw two innings of relief in a loss to Cobleskill, allowing one unearned run. 

Bates – Bates was idle last week and returns to action on March 18 when the Bobcats face Carleton at the Tucson Invitational Games in Tucson, Arizona.

BowdoinKevin Murray (Stony Point, N.Y.) batted .375, with an on-base percentage of .500 in eight games last week in Florida. The junior scored seven runs, and six RBI, and had a pair of extra-base hits as the Polar Bears went 5-3. Junior Jason Bogdanos (New York, N.Y.) pitched 10 innings last week in Florida, allowing two earned runs across three games and earning a win and a save. After two relief appearances earlier in the trip, Bogdanos capped his week with a six-inning, two-earned-run, nine-strikeout performance in a victory over Williams. 

ColbyMarcus Forrester (Marshfield, Mass.) led the Mules to four victories last weekend batting 7-for-12 from the leadoff spot, scoring six runs while knocking in another six and collecting four stolen bases. Going 6-for-8 in a doubleheader sweep on Sunday, the outfielder was the second Colby player this season to reach 100 career hits in 2024. With two walks and a HBP, the senior reached base in 10 of 15 plate appearances, raising his OPS from 0.825 to 0.978 on the season. 

HamiltonMichael Tallarida (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit .417 (10-for-24) with eight runs, 12 RBI, eight extra-base hits including five home runs, and seven walks in seven games. Tallarida tripled, homered, and walked in a 9-1 win at Hampden-Sydney. The sophomore homered twice, walked twice, and drove in four runs in a doubleheader sweep at Hartford. Tallarida hit safely in six of the seven games. Aidan Regan (Princeton, N.J.) went 2-0 in two starts as the senior pitched five innings twice in a pair of seven-inning games. Regan scattered six hits, allowed an unearned run, struck out five, and walked none in a 9-1 win at Hampden-Sydney. Regan gave up seven hits including a two-run homer, walked one, and fanned three in a 14-4 victory at Hartford. Regan, who had one career win entering the week, posted a 1.80 ERA for the two games. 

Middlebury – Senior Chris Borter (Fairfield, Conn.) started in all three contests for Middlebury last week and hit .538 at the plate. The Panther had seven hits, including four doubles, one round-tripper, and five RBI. Borter played a big role in Middlebury nearly upsetting Endicott on Sunday, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles as the Panthers came up just short, 8-6. Junior Justin Lessing (Westport, Conn.) struck out 11 batters over 4.0 innings in a pair of games last week. The Panther shined in a comeback attempt that fell just short against Endicott. Lessing had nine strikeouts over three innings, giving Middlebury a 2-0 edge early in the contest. 

Trinity – Sophomore Dylan Schnitzer (Huntington, N.Y.) hit .473 last week, with one RBI, five walks, three stolen bases, and posted 16 putouts with no errors in the outfield.

Wesleyan -. His hitting helped Wesleyan go 7-0 to start the season which is the team's best start since 2010. Entering in the 5th inning of a 6-5 game with Wesleyan trailing, Matt Spada (Westport, Conn.) tossed five shutout innings in relief, allowing just one hit and two walks with four strikeouts to pick up his first career win as the Cardinals came from behind to post an 11-6 victory over Hamline. The five innings thrown is the longest outing of Spada's career by a wide margin as his longest appearance as a freshman was 2.1 innings. 

WilliamsHenry Juan (Big Flatts, N.Y.) went 6-for-12 batting, with five runs, three doubles, three RBI, and one home run, in three games last week for the Ephs. The junior went 3-for-6 in the batter's box, with three runs, two RBIs, one home run, and one double, in a 22-1 season-opening win at RPI Wednesday. Juan finished 2-for-3 batting, with one double and one run, in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday against Bowdoin in Davenport, Florida. In Game 2, the catcher went 1-for-3, with one run, one double and one RBI. Eric Gage (Needham, Mass.) earned the win in a 22-1 season-opening win at RPI on Wednesday, as he worked the second and third innings and did not allow any runs and struck out two batters. Gage recorded a 1-2-3 inning in the second. Gage also started and worked 2.1 innings against Bowdoin in Game 2 of a doubleheader Sunday afternoon in Davenport, Florida.
