LEXINGTON, Ky. – The AVCA announced its 2024 Division III Women's Volleyball All-Region teams and award winners. There are 14 All-Region team members and six honorable mention selections for each of the 10 regions. Additionally, a Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year were selected for each region. The 203 student-athletes who made All-Region represent 103 different schools.
In Region 1, 15 of the 20 athletes honored were from the NESCAC. The conference also swept the individual awards with Middlebury's Gabbie O'Toole earning Player of the Year honors while Cyanne Jones and Lindsay Johnson of Colby were named Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively, in the region.
O'Toole, a four-time All-NESCAC performer, was a key to the Panthers capturing the NESCAC title. The senior led the conference with 1,053 assists and 9.49 helpers per set over 111 sets played and wrapped up her career second in program history in total assists (3,523) and tallied 20 or more helpers in 101 of 104 career matches. The setter was also a threat from the service line with 39 aces this fall which was second on the squad and her 148 career aces rank third in the Middlebury record book.
Jones was an All-NESCAC Second Team selection in her first season at Colby. She played in all 29 matches and 97 sets as a rookie and recorded 160 kills while hitting .262 for the year. The middle blocker also posted 73 total blocks for the Mules.
Johnson led Colby to its best season since 2005 with a 25-4 record. The Mules earned the top seed in the NESCAC Championship with a perfect 10-0 mark in league play and finished as Runners-Up. Colby was an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the regional semifinals. Johnson and the Colby staff were named the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
