NESCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Elena Lindonen – Trinity – Jr. – F – Boxford, Mass.
Lindonen registered three points across a pair of games for the Bantams. Trailing 1-0 at Connecticut College, Lindonen assisted junior
Alyssa Keane’s (Dedham, Mass.) game-tying goal in the 80th minute to force a 1-1 draw with the Camels. With 1:48 remaining in a scoreless clash with Hamilton, Lindonen put back a saved shot to keep the Bantams playoff hopes alive heading into the regular season finale.
NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Abby Schwartz (Alpharetta, Ga.) scored both goals in the Mammoths 2-2 draw versus Bowdoin on Saturday. The senior’s goal in the 11th minute gave Amherst a 1-0 lead and her tally in the 61st minute tied the score at 2-2. Schwartz has four goals on the season.
Bates – Rookie
Eleanor Martin (Oilville, Va.) came off the bench to score Bates’ lone goal against the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday. The goal came in the 73rd minute and is Martin's third of the season, tied for the team lead.
Bowdoin - First-year
Kayley Huleatt (Rifton, N.Y.) scored both goals and junior goaltender
Charlotte Ianonne (East Williston, N.Y.) made a season-high 13 saves as the Polar Bears earned a 2-2 tie at Amherst Saturday
Colby – Junior
MK Marshall (Pomfret, Conn.) recorded five saves in a 1-0 setback at No. 7 Wesleyan. The junior has 41 saves this season and allowed two goals across her last four games.
Connecticut College - Senior midfielder
Clare Mulvihill (West Caldwell, N.J.) scored the lone goal for Conn. College last week. Mulvihill opened the scoring on Tuesday night, firing a shot from outside the penalty box, and sneaking the shot under the crossbar, to help Conn. College earn a point in a 1-1 draw with Trinity.
Middlebury – Junior
Carolina Espinosa (Menlo Park, Calif.) tallied her first goal of her career on Saturday, leading Middlebury to a 2-0 victory at Bates. The Panther struck just 43 seconds into the contest to tally the game-winner and put the squad on the board.
Tufts –
Elsi Aires (Westborough, Mass.) scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season and earned an assist in a 4-1 win versus Bridgewater State on Tuesday. The junior’s goal put the Jumbos up 3-0. Aires’ assist came on the opening goal of the game, as she slid the ball to junior
Caroline Kelly (Southborough, Mass.), who scored her sixth goal of the season.
Wesleyan – Junior midfielder
Waverly Meyers (Stamford, Conn.) scored in both games last week for Wesleyan, including the game-winning goal in the 80th minute for the Cardinals in a 1-0 home win over Colby on Saturday that clinched the No. 1 seed in the NESCAC Tournament for the first time in team history. Meyers also scored in a 5-0 win at Rhode Island College on Tuesday as the Cardinals extended their unbeaten streak to 14 games, tying a team record.
Williams –
Ava Simunovic (Bedford, N.H.) been instrumental in the Ephs posting nine shutouts and keeping shot counts down all year long. Last week, the senior was pivotal on the defensive side of the field in a 3-0 win over visiting Connecticut College.
